IEC 60794-3-40:2008(E) is part of IEC 60794 family specification that covers sewer cables and conduits for installation by blowing and/or pulling in non-man accessible storm and sanitary sewers, also applicable for man-accessible and lateral ones. Systems built with components covered by this standard are subject to the requirements of sectional specification IEC 60794-3. This standard is to be used in conjunction with IEC 60794-1-1, IEC 60794-1-2 and IEC 60794-3.

La CEI 60794-3-40:2008 est une spécification de famille qui s'applique aux câbles en égouts et aux conduites, installés par soufflage et/ou tirage dans les évacuations d'eaux pluviales et sanitaires non accessibles par l'homme, elle s'applique également aux égouts et aux conduits secondaires accessibles par l'homme. Les systèmes intégrant des éléments couverts par la présente norme sont soumis aux exigences de la spécification intermédiaire CEI 60794-3. Cette publication doit être lue conjointement avec la CEI 60794-1-1:2011, la CEI 60794-1-2:2003 et la CEI 60794-3:2001.

Foreword
The text of document 86A/1228/FDIS, future edition 1 of IEC 60794-3-40, prepared by SC 86A, Fibres
and cables, of IEC TC 86, Fibre optics, was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and was
approved by CENELEC as EN 60794-3-40 on 2008-11-01.
This standard is to be used in conjunction with EN 60794-1-1, EN 60794-1-2 and EN 60794-3.
The following dates were fixed:
– latest date by which the EN has to be implemented
at national level by publication of an identical
national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2009-08-02
– latest date by which the national standards conflicting
(dow) 2011-11-01
with the EN have to be withdrawn
Annex ZA has been added by CENELEC.
