Fixed capacitors for use in electronic equipment - Part 3: Sectional specification - Surface mount fixed tantalum electrolytic capacitors with solid (MnO<sub>2</sub>) electrolyte

IEC 60384-3:2016 applies to fixed tantalum electrolytic surface mount capacitors with solid (MnO2) electrolyte primarily intended for d.c. applications for use in electronic equipment. The following two styles are considered:
- Style 1 - Capacitors protected with external materials;
- Style 2 - Capacitors unprotected with external materials. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) Revision of the structure in accordance with ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2:2011 (sixth edition) to the extent practicable, and harmonization between other similar kinds of documents.
b) In addition, Clause 4 and all the tables have been reviewed in order to prevent duplications and contradictions.

L'IEC 60384-3:2016 s'applique aux condensateurs fixes électrolytiques au tantale pour montage en surface à électrolyte solide (MnO2) destinés principalement aux applications en courant continu dans des équipements électroniques. Les 2 modèles suivants sont considérés:
- Modèle 1 - Condensateurs protégés avec des matériaux externes;
- Modèle 2 - Condensateurs non protégés avec des matériaux externes. Cette édition inclut les modifications techniques majeures suivantes par rapport à l'édition précédente:
a) Révision de la structure fondé sur les Directives ISO/IEC, Partie 2:2011 (sixième édition) dans la mesure du possible, et harmonisation avec d'autres types de documents similaires.
b) En outre, révision et de l'Article 4 et des tableaux pour éviter les redondances et les contradictions.

Fixed capacitors for use in electronic equipment - Part 11: Sectional specification - Fixed polyethylene-terephthalate film dielectric metal foil DC capacitors

IEC 60384-11:2019 is applicable to fixed direct current capacitors, for rated voltages not exceeding 6 300 V, using as dielectric a polyethylene-terephthalate film and electrodes of thin metal foils. For capacitors with rated voltages exceeding 1 000 V, additional tests and requirements may be specified in the detail specification. The capacitors covered by this document are intended for use in electronic equipment. Capacitors for electromagnetic interference suppression are not included, but are covered by IEC 60384‑14. The object of this document is to prescribe preferred ratings and characteristics and to select from IEC 60384-1:2016 the appropriate quality assessment procedures, tests and measuring methods and to give general performance requirements for this type of capacitor. Test severities and requirements prescribed in detail specifications referring to this sectional specification are of an equal or higher performance level. Lower performance levels are not permitted.
This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) revision of all parts of the document based on the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2:2018, and harmonization with other similar kinds of documents;
b) the document structure has been organized to follow new sectional specification structure decided in TC 40;
c) revised tables and Clause 5 so as to prevent duplications and contradictions.

IEC 60384-17:2019 is available as IEC 60384-17:2019 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.
IEC 60384-17:2019 applies to fixed capacitors with metallized electrodes and polypropylene dielectric for use in electronic equipment. Capacitors that have mixed film and metallized electrodes are also within the scope of this standard. These capacitors may have "self-healing" properties depending on conditions of use. Capacitors covered by this specification are mainly intended for use with alternating voltage and/or for pulse applications. The maximum reactive power applicable is 10 000 var and the maximum peak voltage is 3 000 V. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) all parts of the document have been revised based on the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2:2016 (seventh edition) and harmonization between other similar kinds of documents;

c) new damp heat steady-state robustness classes with test conditions have been added in text, in Clause 4 and in Annex A.

IEC 60384-19:2015 is applicable to fixed surface mount capacitors for direct current, with metallized electrodes and polyethylene-terephthalate dielectric for use in electronic equipment. Two performance grades of capacitors are covered, Grade 1 for long-life application and Grade 2 for general application. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition published in 2005 and contains the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition.
- Table 1, Sampling plan together with numbers of permissible non-conformance for qualification approval test, has been adjusted.
- Table 3, Lot-by-lot inspection, has been changed, highlighting assessment level EZ only.
