Protective clothing — Protection against rain — Test method for ready-made garments against high-energy droplets from above

This document specifies a test method for determining the liquid tightness of clothing for protection against rain, using a static manikin exposed to large amount of high energy droplets from above. It is applicable to the testing of jackets, trousers, coats and one- or two-piece suits. This document is not applicable to the testing of garments for resistance to other weather conditions, e.g. snow, hail-, or strong winds. NOTE For general background of the rain simulation, see Annex A.

Le présent document spécifie une méthode d’essai utilisant un mannequin statique exposé à de fortes précipitations pour déterminer l’étanchéité à la pluie d’un vêtement de protection. Il s’applique pour l’essai de vestes, pantalons, manteaux et combinaisons une ou deux pièces. Les essais réalisés dans d’autres conditions météorologiques, par exemple sous la neige, la grêle ou par vent fort, ne sont pas traités dans le présent document. NOTE Pour obtenir un contexte général à la simulation de la pluie, voir l’Annexe A.
