Water quality — Vocabulary — Part 4:

Defines, in the English alphabetic order, a fourth list of 18 terms in English, French, Russian, German used in certain fields of water quality characterization. Alphabetical indexes in French, Russian and German are given. However, only the terms and definitions in the official languages (English, French and Russian) can be considered as ISO terms and definitions.

Foreword ’
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of
national Standards bodies (ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International
Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical committees. Esch member
body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has
the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, govern-
mental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO
collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all
matters of electrotechnical standardization.
Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to
the member bodies for voting. Publication as an International Standard requires
approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.
International Standard ISO 6107-4 was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 147,
Water qua/& Sub-Committee SC 1, Terminology.
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 6107-4 : 19841, in which
amendments have been made to the following terms: 2, 3, 5,7, 8, 11, 14 and 17. Term
16 has been transferred to ISO 6107-7.
6107 consists of eight Parts, under the general title Water quality - Vocabulary.

Introduction
The definitions in this vocabulary have been formulated to provide standardized ter-
minology for the characterization of water quality. Terms included in this vocabulary
may be identical to those contained in vocabularies published by other international
organizations, but the definitions may differ because they have been drafted for dif-
ferent objectives.

The definitions in this vocabulary have been formulated to provide standardized ter-
minology for the characterization of water quality. Terms included in this vocabulary
may be identical to those contained in vocabularies published by other international
organizations, but the definitions may differ because they have been drafted for dif-
ferent objectives.
