Liming materials - Description and minimum requirements
This European Standard describes and specifies the minimum requirements of products of natural origin and products from industrial processes to be used as liming materials in agriculture for raising the pH of soil and water.
NOTE All other characteristics which are important when assessing their value will vary from country to country, and should always be declared and conform to the relevant national legislation.
Calcium-/Magnesium-Bodenverbesserungsmittel - Beschreibung und Mindestanforderungen
Diese Europäische Norm beschreibt die wichtigen Eigenschaften von natürlich vorkommenden und aus industriellen Prozessen stammenden Produkten, die in der Landwirtschaft als Calcium-/Magnesium-Bodenverbesserungsmittel (Kalkdünger) zur Erhöhung des pH-Wertes von Boden und Wasser anzuwenden sind und legt Mindestanforderungen an diese fest.
Diese Europäische Norm stellt die vollständige Liste von Calcium-/Magnesium-Bodenverbesserungsmitteln auf, die auf deren Neutralisationswerten beruht.
ANMERKUNG Alle übrigen Eigenschaften, die von Bedeutung sind, um den Nutzwert der Calcium-/Magnesium-Bodenverbesserungsmittel beurteilen zu können, unterscheiden sich länderspezifisch. Diese sollten immer angeben werden und der jeweiligen nationalen Gesetzgebung entsprechen.

La présente Norme européenne décrit et spécifie les exigences minimales requises des produits d'origine naturelle et de ceux issus de procédés industriels devant etre utilisés comme amendements minéraux basiques en agriculture pour augmenter le pH du sol et de l'eau.
NOTE Toutes les autres caractéristiques qui sont importantes pour déterminer leur valeur varient d'un pays a l'autre. Dans tous les cas, leur déclaration devra se faire en conformité avec la réglementation nationale en vigueur.

EN 14069:2003 (E)4IntroductionThroughout the member countries of CEN, regular liming to regulate the soil pH level and to neutralize the effect ofsoil acidification is a well-established and essential agricultural operation on all soils in humid climates and under allsystems of agricultural cultivation. Liming improves soil fertility and supplies essential plant nutrients.Liming materials are also used in forest liming, lake liming and the liming of water catchment areas.A wide range of natural geological deposits of liming materials is found in all member countries of CEN. Someindustrial processes produce materials acceptable as liming products. This very wide range of material differssubstantially in both chemical and physical properties.
