This part of the IEC 60794 series presents the detailed requirements specific to indoor optical fibre ribbon cables to ensure compatibility with ISO/IEC 11801. The requirements of the family specification IEC 60794-2-30 are applicable to cables covered by this standard. The particular requirements detailed in Clause 4 either define a specific option relative to the requirements of IEC 60794-2-30 or define additional requirements.

La CEI 60794-2-31:2012 donne les exigences détaillées spécifiques aux câbles à fibres optiques en ruban à usage intérieur, et assure la compatibilité avec l'ISO/IEC 11801. Les exigences contenues dans la spécification de famille CEI 60794-2-30 sont applicables aux câbles couverts par la présente norme. Cette deuxième édition annule et remplace la première édition publiée en 2005. Elle constitue une révision technique.La présente édition inclut les modifications techniques significatives suivantes par rapport à l'édition antérieure: - ajout de la catégorie de performance de fibre câblée OM4; - ajout de la catégorie de performance de fibre câblée OS2; - ajout des catégories de fibre B6_a1 et B6_a2 selon la CEI 60793-2-50. Zahteve skupinske specifikacije IEC 60794-2-30 se uporabljajo za kable, ki jih zajema ta standard. Posebne zahteve iz točke 4 opredeljujejo posebno možnost glede na zahteve iz standarda IEC 60794-2-30 ali dodatne zahteve.

Foreword The text of document 86A/1468/FDIS, future edition 2 of IEC 60794-2-31, prepared by SC 86A, "Fibres and cables", of IEC TC 86, "Fibre optics" was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and approved by CENELEC as EN 60794-2-31:2013.
The following dates are fixed: • latest date by which the document has to be implemented at national level by publication of an identical national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2013-09-12 • latest date by which the national standards conflicting with the document have to be withdrawn (dow) 2015-12-12
This document supersedes EN 60794-2-31:2006. EN 60794-2-31:2013 includes the following significant technical changes with respect to EN 60794-2-31:2006: • incorporation of the OM4 cabled fibre performance category; • incorporation of the OS2 cabled fibre performance category; • incorporation of the B6_a1 and B6_a2 fibre categories as per EN 60793-2-50. Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights.
