    • Method B: Uses a clamping device; cable pulled between two mandrels (mandrel diameter ≥ 50 mm). Initial length between mandrels (250 ± 1) mm, pulling speed (50 ± 10) mm/min, at least three turns on each mandrel. Sample length can be ≈5 m.
  • Final measurements and outputs (referenced to product standard):
    • Visual examination (EN 3745-201)
    • Attenuation changes (before/after, at maximum tensile rating)
    • Maximum recorded fibre strain at maximum tensile rating (Method A)
    • Mechanical characteristics: maximum load to optical discontinuity; breaking load for the complete cable
