This European Standard specifies a method of obtaining a representative sample from a lot (considered to be any significant shipment – see Clause 3) of PfR for testing to determine whether or not its composition and/or quality complies with the requirements of EN 643 and or other specifications.
It defines the sampling procedures which apply when sampling is carried out to resolve compliance issues and commercial disputes between buyer and seller relating to a lot of paper for recycling, at any point in the value chain, where those procedures are not defined in the contract between buyer and seller.
- This standard is not intended for routine monitoring of processes or quality.
- This standard is not applicable if the material is not intended for recycling.
- The method is unsuitable for determining the variability within a lot.

Dieses Dokument legt ein Verfahren zur Einholung repräsentativer Durchschnittsproben für die Prüfung eines Lieferpostens von Altpapier fest, um zu bestimmen, ob dessen Zusammensetzung und Qualität mit den Anforderungen nach EN 643 und/oder anderen Spezifikationen übereinstimmt.
Zudem legt dieses Dokument die Positionierung von Sonden bei der Durchführung von Vor-Ort-Messungen fest.
Es legt die Probenahmeverfahren fest, die gelten, wenn die Probenahme durchgeführt wird, um an jeder Stelle in der Wertschöpfungskette Fragen der Konformität und Konflikte zwischen Käufer und Verkäufer zu einem Lieferposten von Altpapier zu lösen, wo solche Vorgehensweisen nicht im Vertrag zwischen Käufer und Verkäufer festgelegt sind.
Dieses Dokument ist nicht ausdrücklich für routinemäßige Überwachung von Prozessen oder Qualität vorgesehen, aber die beschriebenen Verfahren dürfen verwendet werden, die Grundlage einer Vereinbarung zwischen dem Lieferanten und dem Käufer zu bilden.
Dieses Dokument ist nicht anwendbar, wenn das Material nicht für das Recycling vorgesehen ist.
Das Verfahren ist nicht zur Bestimmung der Schwankungen innerhalb eines Lieferpostens vorgesehen, die allgemeinen Probenahmeverfahren können jedoch angewandt werden.

Le présent document spécifie une méthode permettant d’obtenir des échantillons représentatifs d’un lot de papiers et cartons pour recyclage afin de déterminer si sa composition et sa qualité sont conformes aux exigences de l’EN 643 et/ou d’autres spécifications.
Le présent document spécifie également le positionnement des sondes lorsque des mesures sont effectuées in situ.
Il définit les procédures d’échantillonnage requises pour résoudre des problèmes de conformité et des litiges commerciaux entre acheteur et vendeur concernant un lot de papiers et cartons pour recyclage, en tout point de la chaîne de valeur, si aucune procédure n’est définie dans le contrat passé entre l’acheteur et le vendeur.
Si le présent document n’est pas particulièrement destiné au suivi en continu des process ou de la qualité, les procédures décrites peuvent toutefois servir de base à un accord entre le fournisseur et l’acheteur.
Le présent document n’est pas applicable pour un matériau non destiné au recyclage.
Il n’est pas prévu d’utiliser cette procédure pour évaluer la variabilité à l’intérieur d’un lot. Toutefois, les principes généraux d’échantillonnage peuvent être appliqués.

Ta evropski standard določa način pridobivanja reprezentativnega vzorca iz serije (za poljubno pomembno pošiljko – glej točko 3) papirja za recikliranje, pri čemer se s preskusom ugotovi, ali je njegova sestava in/ali kakovost skladna z zahtevami standarda EN 643 in/ali drugimi specifikacijami.
Določa postopke vzorčenja, kadar je preverjanje vzorcev potrebno zaradi reševanja vprašanj skladnosti ter poslovnih sporov med kupcem in prodajalcem v zvezi s pošiljko papirja za recikliranje v katerem koli delu prodajne verige, če ti postopki niso opredeljeni v pogodbi med kupcem in prodajalcem.
– Ta standard ni namenjen rutinskemu spremljanju procesov ali kakovosti.

Introduction
The purpose of these sampling procedures for paper and board for recycling (PfR) is to provide
stakeholders with the basis for subsequent measurements to obtain robust and consistent data
regarding composition and quality of this important recovered material and ensure compliance with
the requirements of EN 643 and/or any other commercially agreed specifications. Paper and board for
recycling with ensured quality will improve confidence and ensure that output materials are suitable
for use in paper mills.
The majority of paper and board for recycling is moved and handled in the form of discrete bales
typically weighing up to 1 500 kg and typically in loads of approximately 25 t. However, a significant
quantity of paper and board for recycling is moved and handled as loose, unbaled material (possibly in
containers or walking floor trucks).
This document can be used by collectors, re-processors, paper mills, any other stakeholders and
interested third parties to ensure consistency throughout the value chain of paper and board for
recycling.
This document defines the procedures for obtaining macro-samples (needed for large-scale tests e.g.
composition) and micro-samples (needed for laboratory scale tests e.g. moisture content).

1 Scope
This document specifies a method of obtaining representative samples from a lot of paper and board for
recycling for testing to determine whether or not its composition and quality comply with the
requirements of EN 643 and/or other specifications.
This document also specifies the positioning of probes, when in situ measurements are performed.
It defines the sampling procedures which apply when sampling is carried out to resolve compliance
issues and commercial disputes between buyer and seller relating to a lot of paper and board for
recycling, at any point in the value chain, where those procedures are not defined in the contract
between buyer and seller.
This document is not specifically intended for routine monitoring of processes or quality, but the
procedures described may be used to form the basis of an agreement between supplier and buyer.
This document is not applicable if the material is not intended for recycling.
The method is not intended for determining the variability within a lot, however, the general sampling
principles can be applied.
