In diesem Teil von ISO 4894 wird ein Bezeichnungssystem für thermoplastische Styrol/Acrylnitril-Formmassen festgelegt, das als Grundlage für Spezifikationen dienen kann. Styrol/Acrylnitril-Formmasse-Typen werden mit Hilfe eines Einteilungssystems voneinander unterschieden, das auf geeigneten Wertebereichen der kennzeichnenden Eigenschaften a) Vicat-Erweichungstemperatur, b) Schmelze-Massefließrate (MFR) und Informationen über grundlegende Polymer-Parameter, vorgesehene Anwendung und/oder Verarbeitungsverfahren, wichtige Eigenschaften, Additive, Farbstoffe, Füll- und Verstärkungstoffe beruht.

La présente partie de l'ISO 4894 établit un système de désignation des matériaux thermoplastiques styrène/acrylonitrile, qui peut être utilisé comme base pour les spécifications. Les types de plastiques styrène/acrylonitrile sont différenciés les uns des autres par un système de classification basé sur des niveaux appropriés de propriétés de désignation : a) température de ramollissement Vicat ; b) indice de fluidité ; et sur des informations concernant l'application prévue et/ou la méthode de mise en oeuvre, les propriétés importantes, les additifs, colorants, matériaux de charge et renfort. La présente partie de l'ISO 4894 est applicable à tous les copolymères de styrène et/ou de styrène substitué contenant entre 10 % (m/m) et 50 % (m/m) d'acrylonitrile. Elle s'applique aux matériaux prêts à l'emploi normal, non modifiés ou modifiés par des colorants, additifs, charges, etc. Le fait que des matériaux aient la même désignation n'implique pas qu'ils présentent nécessairement les mêmes performances. La présente partie de l'ISO 4894 ne comporte pas de données sur la conception, la performance ou les conditions de mise en oeuvre qui peuvent être exigées pour spécifier un matériau pour une application et/ou une méthode de mise en oeuvre particulière. Si de telles caractéristiques additionnelles sont nécessaires, elles doivent être déterminées conformément aux méthodes d'essai prescrites dans l'ISO 4894-2, si appropriée. Afin de prescrire un matériau thermoplastique pour une application particulière ou d'assurer une méthode de mise en oeuvre reproductible, des exigences additionnelles peuvent être codées dans le bloc de données 5 (voir article 3, alinéa d'introduction).

Foreword
IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide
federation of national standards bodies (IS0 member bodies). The work of
preparing International Standards is normally carried out through IS0
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which
a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented
on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-
governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. IS0
collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission
(IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.

This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition (IS0 4894-1 :I 990),

1 Scope
1 .l This part of IS0 4894 establishes a system of designation for styrene/acrylonitrile thermoplastic material,
which may be used as the basis for specifications.
1.2 The types of styrene/actylonitrile plastic are differentiated from each other by a classification system based on
appropriate levels of the designatory properties
a) Vicat softening temperature
b) melt flow rate
and on information about basic polymer parameters, intended application and/or method of processing, important
properties, additives, colourants, fillers and reinforcing materials.
1.3 This part of IS0 4894 is applicable to all copolymers of styrene and/or substituted styrene having between
10 % (m/m) and 50 % (m/m) acrylonitrile.
It applies to materials ready for normal use and to materials unmodified or modified by colourants, additives, fillers,
etc.
1.4 It is not intended to imply that materials having the same designation give necessarily the same performance.
This part of IS0 4894 does not provide engineering data, performance data or data on processing conditions which
may be required to specify a material for a particular application and/or method of processing.
If such additional properties are required, they shall be determined in accordance with the test methods specified in
part 2 of this International Standard, if suitable.
1.5 In order to specify a thermoplastic material for a particular application or to ensure reproducible processing,
additional requirements may be given in data block 5 (see clause 3, introductory paragraph).
2 Normative references
The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this part of
IS0 4894. At the time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All standards are subject to revision, and
