Leather - Physical and mechanical tests - Determination of flex resistance by flexometer method (ISO 5402:2002)

This European Standard specifies a method for determining the wet or dry flex resistance of leather and finishes applied to leather. It is applicable to all types of leather below 3,0 mm in thickness.

Die vorliegende Europäische Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Naß- oder Trockenbiegefestigkeit von Leder und von Lederzurichtungen fest. Das Verfahren gilt für alle Lederarten mit einer Dicke kleiner 3,0 mm.

La présente norme européenne spécifie une méthode pour déterminer la résistance a la flexion d'un cuir a l'état sec ou a l'état humide et des finitions appliquées au cuir. Elle s'applique a tous les types de cuirs dont l'épaisseur est inférieure a 3,0 mm.

Foreword
This document (EN ISO 5402:2002) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 289
"Leather", the secretariat of which is held by UNI, in collaboration with the International Union of
Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS).
It is based on Method IUP 20 of the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists
Societies.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of
an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by June 2003, and conflicting national
standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by June 2003.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of
the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Czech
Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg,
Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies (ISO
member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical
committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has
the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in
liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical
Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.
