SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
5.1 This test method offers a procedure for evaluation of the refractive components of plano-protective eyewear.
5.2 This test method has been specifically designed for protective eyewear that will not fit into conventional automatic/digital focimeters.
5.3 This test method has been designed to provide a determination of the image formation quality of plano-protective eyewear.
5.4 This test method offers a comprehensive refractive power measurement scanning protocol that measures the refractive power over a total 50 mm2 area in front of each eye. This measurement protocol known as the Multiple Gaze Direction Detailed Scan (MGDDS) measures the refractive powers of the zones of the plano-protective eyewear that are typically used as the wearer performs micro eye movements.
SCOPE
1.1 This test method is used to quantify the amount of refractive power (spherical and cylindrical powers) found in planoprotective eyewear.
1.2 This test method is used to quantify the optical performance of plano-protective eyewear as identified by the weighted root mean square average wavefront error.
1.3 This test method may also be used to measure the refractive powers of other plano-protective eyewear or ocular devices, or both.
1.4 Units—The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.
1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

ABSTRACT
This specification applies to eye protective devices, designed for use by players of the sport of paintball that minimize or significantly reduce injury to the eye and adnexa due to impact and penetration of paintballs. Field of view, refractive tolerances, astigmatism, power imbalance, prism imbalance, vertical imbalance, horizontal imbalances, luminous transmittance, haze, optical quality, and physical lens defects of the eye protective devices shall be tested to meet the requirements prescribed.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification applies to eye, face, and head protective devices, designed for use by players of the sport of paintball, which minimize or significantly reduce injury to the eye, adnexa of eye, face, and head due to paintball impact or penetration, or both.
1.2 EHPDs by nature provide three types of protection. The first type of protection is for the eyes and adnexa of eye and not necessarily for any other parts of the face or head. The second type of protection adds coverage for the ears and face. The third type of coverage adds cranial coverage in addition to that provided to types II and III. These coverage types are defined in Section 8.
1.3 This specification does not limit the wearing of eyeglasses or contact lenses when used in conjunction with the EHPD.
1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

ABSTRACT
This specification covers eye protective devices (EPDs) intended for use in the sport of air soft with 6-mm air soft projectiles. These EPDs are designed to minimize or significantly reduce injury to the eye and adnexa as a result of impact and penetration of air soft projectiles. This specification also applies to EPDs designed for use by participants in tactical sports using air soft guns. This specification provides guidance with respect to performance, materials of construction and openings, sample preparation, test methods such as optical test methods and mechanical tests, and product marking.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification applies to eye protective devices (EPDs) designed for use by participants in the sport of airsoft with 6-mm airsoft projectiles. These EPDs are designed to minimize or significantly reduce injury to the eye and adnexa as a result of impact and penetration of airsoft projectiles.
1.2 When airsoft guns are used for target practice with a paper or gel target and a backstop sufficient to prevent ricochet, shooters may wear eye protection (shooting glasses) appropriate for use with firearms, ball bullet (BB) guns or air guns that meet ANSI Z87.1. The balance of this specification applies to EPDs designed for use by participants in tactical sports using airsoft guns.
1.3 EPDs meeting the requirements of this specification offer protection to the eyes and adnexa and not necessarily to any other parts of the head.
1.4 Units—The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.
1.5 This specification does not limit the wearing of eyeglasses or contact lenses when used in conjunction with the EPD based on the information provided by the manufacturer in section 9.2.21.
1.6 The following information is provided for the laboratory conducting the test for the protection of their personnel: This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

ABSTRACT
This specification covers eye protectors, designed for use by players of racket sports, women's lacrosse, field hockey, basketball, baseball, and soccer that minimize or significantly reduce injury to the eye and adnexa due to impact and penetration by racket-sport rackets and balls, women's lacrosse and field hockey sticks and balls, baseballs, soccer balls, hands, elbows, and fingers. Protective eyewear offers protection only to the eyes and does not protect other parts of the head. Protectors are divided into four types depending on their design characteristics as follows: Type I—A protector with the lens or lenses and frame frontpiece molded as one unit. Frame temples or other devices, such as straps, to affix the lens/frontpiece may be separate pieces; Type II—A protector with a single lens or lenses, either plano or prescription, mounted in a frame that was manufactured as a separate unit; Type III—A protector without a lens; and Type IV—A full or partial face shield. Materials shall be tested using optical tests such as field of view, optical quality, luminous transmittance, prismatic deviation measurements, haze, refractive power measurements, surface imperfections and internal defects, and alternate optical tests; and mechanical tests such as high velocity impact resistance, and projectile simulator test. In addition, the individual grades shall conform to the general, and performance requirements.

ABSTRACT
This specification covers the material, design, optical, and strength requirements, and associated test procedures for goggles and faceshields used by alpine skiers, to provide a reasonable degree of protection against foreign objects that strike or lodge the eye or surrounding soft tissue causing eye irritation or damage, as well as to minimize fogging and vision restrictions that distract or handicap the skier, thereby causing accidents. Contact lenses, sunglasses, and corrective dress eye wear are not included within the scope of this specification. When tested by the methods provided herein, these eye protective devices shall adhere to specified optical requirements in terms of field of view (temporal, nasal, superior, and inferior fields), luminous transmittance, refractive tolerances, astigmatism, refractive power imbalance, prismatic deviation and imbalance (vertical and horizontal imbalances), optical defects, and physical lens defects. The protective eyewear shall also meet light-transmitting ability requirements such as clearness, ultraviolet and infrared filtration, and resistance to fogging. Furthermore, lens strength shall be examined as well by means of basic impact resistance and higher impact resistance tests.
