SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers the general requirements for steel sheet in coils and cut lengths. It applies to the following specifications that describe carbon steel, structural steel, and high-strength, low-alloy steel (HSLA) furnished as hot-rolled sheet and cold-rolled sheet: Specifications A 414/A 414M, A 424, A 606, A 659/A 659M, A 794, A 1008/A 1008M, and A 1011/A 1011M.
1.2 This specification is not applicable to hot-rolled heavy-thickness carbon sheet coils (Specification A 635/A 635M).
1.3 In case of any conflict in requirements, the requirements of the individual material specification shall prevail over those of this general specification.
1.4 For the purposes of determining conformance with this and the appropriate product specification referenced in , values shall be rounded to the nearest unit in the right hand place of figures used in expressing the limiting values in accordance with the rounding method of Practice E 29.
1.5 lists permissible variations in dimensions and mass (see Note 0) in SI [metric] units. The values listed are not exact conversions of the values listed in the inch-pound tables, but instead are rounded or rationalized values. Conformance to is mandatory when the "M" specification is used. The term weight is used when inch-pound units are the standard. However, under SI the preferred term is  mass.
1.6 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system must be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the specification.
1.7 This specification and the applicable material specifications are expressed in both inch-pound units and SI units. However, unless the order specifies the applicable "M" specification designation (SI units), the material shall be furnished to inch-pound units.

ABSTRACT
This specification covers cold-rolled, carbon, structural, and high-strength low-alloy, in coils and cut lengths produced by the twin-roll casting process. Cold-rolled steel sheet is available in the following designations: commercial steel, drawing steel, structural steel, and high-strength low-alloy steel. Sheet steel grades defined by this specification are suitable for welding if appropriate welding conditions are selected. 1.2 Cold rolled steel sheet produced by the twin-roll casting process is available in the designations as listed in 4.1.

ABSTRACT

When specified to be pickled or blast cleaned, the material shall be furnished oiled. When required, pickled or blast-cleaned material may be specified to be furnished dry.

1.3 Hot-rolled carbon steel sheet is generally furnished in cut lengths and to decimal thickness only. Coils may be furnished, provided tension test specimens are taken to represent the middle of the slab as required by 6.1.3. The purchaser should recognize this may require cutting the coils to obtain test samples and results in half-size coils. The sheet is furnished to the following size limits:

ABSTRACT
This specification covers general requirements for flat-rolled stainless and heat-resisting steel plate, sheet, and strip. 1.2 In the case of conflict between a requirement of a product specification and a requirement of this specification, the product specification shall prevail. In the case of conflict between a requirement of the product specification or a requirement of this specification and a more stringent requirement of the purchase order, the purchase order shall prevail. Standard Test Methods for Testing Mechanical Splices for Steel Reinforcing Bars

SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
5.1 Significance:  
5.1.1 The bar-splice assembly test specimen shall closely represent the mechanical splice used in practice. The behavior of the bar-splice assembly embedded in concrete, however, may differ from its behavior during testing where it is not embedded in concrete.  
5.2 Usefulness:  
5.2.1 Testing of mechanical splices for reinforcing bars shall establish the behavior of the bar-splice assembly under the loading conditions described herein for the various test methods to determine the acceptability of the mechanical splice for use in reinforced concrete structural members under specific design criteria.  
5.3 Interpretation of Test Results:  
5.3.1 Similar or better performance of mechanical splices installed in structural members shall be expected only if materials and methods of assembly are similar to the materials and methods used in the tests.
SCOPE
1.1 These test methods cover the testing of mechanical splices for reinforcing bars. The various tests herein described can be specified in total or individually.  
1.2 The test methods herein described are applicable to any type of mechanical splice manufactured to join steel reinforcing bars of any grade (specified minimum yield strength), uncoated or coated.  
1.3 This standard describes only the methods for testing mechanical splices for steel reinforcing bars, but does not quantify the parameters for testing nor acceptance criteria, which must be specified.
Note 1: Various code-writing bodies specify various parameters, such as test loads, number of cycles and test temperature, for testing.

ABSTRACT
This specification covers the qualification requirements for structural steel H-piles and sheet piling with protective fusion-bonded epoxy coating applied by electrostatic spraying, flocking, or fluidized bed processing. Surface preparation techniques shall be performed by abrasive blast cleaning, grinding and chemical washing prior to coating application. The powder coating shall be heat treated and cured before visible oxidation occurs. Coating materials shall undergo thickness measurements and bend testing, and shall conform to the requirements for film thickness, flexibility and continuity, impact resistance, chemical composition, and corrosion resistance. The coated H-piles or sheet piling shall be stored off of the ground on supports. While handling equipment, bundling bands for packaging and tie-down bands for shipping shall have padded contact areas so as to avoid damage and excessive deflection.

1.1 This specification covers high-strength, low-alloy, cold-rolled sheet and strip in cut lengths or coils, hot-rolled sheet and strip steel in cut lengths or coils with ordered thickness less than 0.230 in. [6.0 mm], and hot-rolled sheet coils (not cut lengths) with ordered thickness 0.230 in. [6.0 mm] and thicker, intended for use in structural and miscellaneous purposes, where savings in weight or added durability are important. These steels have enhanced atmospheric corrosion resistance and are supplied in three types or as commercial steel (CS). Type 2 contains 0.20 % minimum copper based on cast or heat analysis (0.18 % minimum Cu for product check). Type 4 and Type 5 contain additional alloying elements and provide a level of corrosion resistance substantially better than that of carbon steels with or without copper addition (Note 1). When properly exposed to the atmosphere, Type 4 and Type 5 steels can be used in the bare (unpainted) condition for many applications. CS is intended for applications that require enhanced atmospheric corrosion resistance which do not require a specified strength. CS shall contain the chemical requirements of Type 2, Type 4, or Type 5. CS as contained within this specification is not associated with the requirements of CS that are referenced in other Subcommittee A01.19 on Steel Sheet and Strip specifications.

ABSTRACT
This specification covers 8 and 9% nickel alloy steel plates for use in the water quenched and tempered condition intended for the fabrication of welded pressure vessels. The materials shall be available in two types, namely Type I and II, having different chemical compositions. The maximum thickness of plates is limited only by the capacity of the material to meet the specified mechanical property requirements. The material is susceptible to magnetization and the use of magnets in handling after heat treatment should be avoided if residual magnetism would be detrimental to subsequent fabrication or service. The steels shall be killed and shall conform to the fine austenitic grain size requirement specified. The plates shall be tempered and hardened by heat treatment. The specimens shall be subjected to tension and Charpy V-notch impact tests.
