Plastics - Thermoplastic polyester (TP) moulding and extrusion materials - Part 1: Designation system and basis for specifications (ISO 7792-1:2012)

ISO 7792-1:2012 establishes a system of designation for thermoplastic polyester (TP) material, which may be used as the basis for specifications. It covers polyester homopolymers for moulding and extrusion based on poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET), poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT), poly(cyclohexylenedimethylene terephthalate) (PCT), poly(ethylene naphthalate) (PEN), poly(butylene naphthalates) (PBN) and other TP-types and copolyesters of various compositions for moulding and extrusion.
The types of thermoplastic polyester are differentiated from each other by a classification system based on appropriate levels of the designatory properties (viscosity number and tensile modulus of elasticity) and on information about the intended application and/or method of processing, important properties, additives, colorants, fillers and reinforcing materials.
ISO 7792-1:2012 is applicable to thermoplastic polyester homopolymers and copolymers. It applies to materials ready for normal use in the form of powder, granules or pellets, unmodified or modified by colorants, additives, fillers, etc.
ISO 7792-1:2012 does not apply to the saturated polyester/ester and polyether/ester thermoplastic elastomers covered by ISO 14910.
It is not intended to imply that materials having the same designation give necessarily the same performance. ISO 7792-1:2012 does not provide engineering data, performance data or data on processing conditions which may be required to specify a material for a particular application and/or method of processing.
If such additional properties are required, they shall be determined in accordance with the test methods specified in ISO 7792-2, if suitable. In order to specify a thermoplastic polyester material for a particular application or to ensure reproducible processing, additional requirements may be given in data block 5.

Kunststoffe - Thermoplastische Polyester (TP)-Formmassen - Teil 1: Bezeichnungssystem und Basis für Spezifikationen (ISO 7792-1:2012)

Dieser Teil von ISO 7792 legt ein Bezeichnungssystem für Formmassen thermoplastischer Polyester (TP) fest, das als Grundlage für Spezifikationen verwendet werden kann. Berücksichtigt werden Polyester Homopolymere (Reinpolymerisate) für Formmassen auf Basis von Poly¬ethylenterephthalat (PET), Polybutylenterephthalat (PBT), Polycyclohexylendimethylenterephthalat (PCT), Polyethylennaphthalat (PEN), Polybutylennaphthalat (PBN) und andere TP Arten sowie Polyester Copolymere verschiedener Zusammen-setzung für Formmassen.
Die Arten thermoplastischer Polyester werden mithilfe eines Einteilungssystems voneinander unterschieden, das auf geeigneten Wertebereichen der kennzeichnenden Eigenschaften (Viskositätszahl und Zugelastizitätsmodul) und auf Angaben über die vorgesehene Verwendung und/oder das Verarbeitungsverfahren, wichtige Eigenschaften, Additive, Farbstoffe, Füll- und Verstärkungsstoffe beruht.
Dieser Teil von ISO 7792 gilt für Rein- und Copolymerisate thermoplastischer Polyester. Die Norm gilt für gebrauchsfertige Werkstoffe in Form von Pulver, Granulat oder Pellets, die mit Farbstoffen, Additiven, Füllstoffen usw. modifiziert sein können.
Dieser Teil von ISO 7792 gilt nicht für Formmassen gesättigter Polyester/Ester- und Polyether/Ester-Thermoplastelastomere, die in ISO 14910 behandelt werden.
Es soll nicht behauptet werden, dass Formmassen mit gleicher Bezeichnung zwangsläufig das gleiche Leistungsverhalten aufweisen. Dieser Teil von ISO 7792 enthält keine technischen Daten, Leistungsangaben oder Verarbeitungsbedingungen, die erforderlich sein können, um eine Formmasse für eine spezielle Anwendung und/oder ein bestimmtes Verarbeitungsverfahren zu spezifizieren. Wenn derartige zusätzliche Eigenschaften gefragt sind, müssen sie, so weit möglich, nach den in Teil 2 dieser Internationalen Norm festgelegten Prüfverfahren bestimmt werden.
Um eine thermoplastische Formmasse für eine bestimmte Anwendung zu spezifizieren oder eine reproduzierbare Verarbeitung sicherzustellen, können zusätzliche Anforderungen im Daten Block 5 angegeben werden.

L'ISO 7792-1:2012 établit un système de désignation des matériaux polyesters thermoplastiques (TP) qui peut être utilisé comme base pour les spécifications. Elle s'applique aux homopolymères des polyesters pour moulage et extrusion à base de poly(téréphtalate d'éthylène) (PET), de poly(téréphtalate de butylène) (PBT), de poly(téréphtalate de cyclohexylène diméthylène) (PCT), de poly(naphtalate d'éthylène) (PEN), de poly(naphtalate de butylène) (PBN) et autres types de TP, ainsi qu'aux copolyesters de compositions variables pour moulage et extrusion.
Les types de polyesters thermoplastiques sont différenciés les uns des autres par un système de classification basé sur des niveaux appropriés des propriétés de désignation (indice de viscosité et module d'élasticité en traction) et sur des informations concernant l'application prévue et/ou la méthode de mise en oeuvre, les propriétés importantes, les additifs, les colorants, les charges et les matériaux de renfort.
L'ISO 7792-1:2012 s'applique aux homopolymères et copolymères de polyesters thermoplastiques. Elle s'applique aux matériaux prêts à l'emploi sous forme de poudres, grains ou granulés, non modifiés ou modifiés par des colorants, additifs, charges, etc.
L'ISO 7792-1:2012 ne s'applique pas aux élastomères thermoplastiques à base de copolymères saturés polyester/ester et polyéther/ester couverts par l'ISO 14910.
Le fait que des matériaux aient la même désignation n'implique pas qu'ils présentent nécessairement les mêmes performances. L'ISO 7792-1:2012 ne comporte pas de données sur la conception, les performances ou les conditions de mise en oeuvre qui peuvent être exigées pour spécifier un matériau pour une application et/ou une méthode de mise en oeuvre particulière.
Si de telles caractéristiques additionnelles sont nécessaires, elles doivent être déterminées conformément aux méthodes d'essai spécifiées dans l'ISO 7792-2, le cas échéant. Pour spécifier un matériau polyester thermoplastique pour une application particulière ou garantir une mise en oeuvre reproductible, il est possible de coder des exigences additionnelles dans le bloc de données 5.

Ta del standarda ISO 7792 določa sistem označevanja materialov iz plastomernih poliestrov (TP), ki jih je mogoče uporabiti kot podlago za specifikacije. Zajema poliestrske homopolimere za oblikovanje in ekstrudiranje na osnovi poli(etilen tereftalata) (PET), poli(butilen tereftalata) (PBT), poli(cikloheksilendimetilen tereftalata) (PCT), poli(etilen naftalata) (PEN) in druge vrste plastomernih poliestrov in kopoliestrov različnih kompozitov za oblikovanje in ekstrudiranje. Vrste plastomernih poliesterov se ločujejo glede na sistem razvrščanja, ki temelji na ustreznih ravneh označevalnih lastnostih a) viskoznostno število, b) natezni modul elastičnosti in na informacijah o načrtovani uporabi in/ali metodi obdelave, pomembnih lastnostih, aditivih, barvilih, polnilih ter materialih za ojačanje. Ta del standarda ISO 7792 se uporablja za plastomerne poliestrske homopolimere in kopolimere. Uporablja se za materiale v obliki praška, granul ali peletov, pripravljene za običajno uporabo, nespremenjene ali spremenjene z barvili, aditivi, polnili itd. Ta del standarda ISO 7792 ne velja za nasičene plastomerne elastomere poliester/ester in polieter/ester iz standarda ISO 14910.

This document (EN ISO 7792-1:2012) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 61 "Plastics" in
collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 249 “Plastics” the secretariat of which is held by NBN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by June 2013, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at
the latest by June 2013.
