Coating powders - Part 13: Particle size analysis by laser diffraction (ISO 8130-13:2019)

This document specifies a method for the determination of the equivalent-sphere particle size distribution of coating powders by laser diffraction, for particles of the size range from 1 µm to 300 µm.
NOTE       There is a possibility that particle sizes >300 µm need the use of a different optical model.
This document is specific for the measurement of coating powders and also draws attention to ISO 13320, which provides guidance on instrument qualification and particle size distribution.
Laser diffraction is not suitable for determining oversize material, which can be verified by sieve analysis as described in ISO 8130‑1 or by dynamic image analysis as described in ISO 13322‑2.

Pulverlacke - Teil 13: Teilchengrößenanalyse durch Laserbeugung (ISO 8130-13:2019)

Dieses Dokument legt ein Verfahren zum Bestimmen der Teilchengrößenverteilung von Pulverlacken durch Laserbeugung anhand des Äquivalentdurchmessers der Teilchen im Größenbereich von 1 µm bis 300 µm fest.
ANMERKUNG   Es besteht die Möglichkeit, dass Teilchengrößen > 300 μm die Anwendung eines anderen optischen Modells erfordern.
Dieses Dokument ist speziell für die Messung von Beschichtungspulvern und lenkt die Aufmerksamkeit auf ISO 13320, die Hinweise zur Eignung von Geräten und zur Teilchengrößenverteilung gibt.
Die Teilchengrößenanalyse durch Laserbeugung eignet sich nicht zur Bestimmung des Überkorns, welches mittels der in ISO 8130 1 beschriebenen Siebanalyse oder durch die in ISO 13322 2 beschriebene dyna-mische Bildanalyse nachgewiesen werden kann.

Le présent document spécifie une méthode de détermination par diffraction laser de la distribution granulométrique, en diamètre sphérique équivalent, de poudres pour revêtement, pour des tailles de particules comprises entre 1 µm et 300 µm.
NOTE       Il y a une possibilité que les tailles de particules > 300 µm nécessitent l'utilisation d'un modèle optique différent.
Le présent document est spécifiquement destiné au mesurage de poudres pour revêtement et attire également l'attention sur l'ISO 13320, qui fournit des recommandations relatives à l'évaluation de l'appareil et à la distribution granulométrique.
La diffraction laser ne convient pas à la détermination du refus, qui peut être vérifiée au moyen d'une analyse par tamisage telle que décrite dans l'ISO 8130-1 ou par analyse d'images dynamiques telle que décrite dans l'ISO 13322-2.

Ta dokument določa metodo za ugotavljanje porazdelitve velikosti ekvivalentnih sferičnih delcev praškastih premazov z lasersko difrakcijo, in sicer za velikost delcev od 1 μm do 300 μm.
OPOMBA: Obstaja možnost, da je treba pri velikostih delcev > 300 μm uporabiti drugačen optični model. Ta dokument je specifičen za merjenje praškastih premazov in usmerja pozornost na standard ISO 13320, ki podaja smernice za ustreznost instrumentov in porazdelitev velikosti delcev. Laserska difrakcija ni primerna za ugotavljanje prevelikega materiala, kar je mogoče preveriti s sejalno analizo, kot je opisano v standardu ISO 8130-1, ali z analizo dinamične slike, kot je opisano v standardu ISO 13322-2.

This document (EN ISO 8130-13:2019) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 35 "Paints
and varnishes" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 139 “Paints and varnishes” the
secretariat of which is held by DIN.

This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 8130-13:2001), which has been technically
revised.
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
— clauses on precautions, accuracy, reference materials and error sources have been added;
— the requirements concerning the analyser (5.1) are more detailed and description of the testing
(8.3) has been extended;
— the test report has been amended to be more detailed;
— the text has been editorially revised and the normative references have been updated.
