Child care articles - Soother holder - Safety requirements and test methods

This European Standard specifies safety requirements relating to the materials, construction, performance, packaging and labelling of soother holders. It includes test methods for the mechanical and chemical requirements specified. All products which are intended to be used by a child to connect a soother with any other products are included in the scope of this standard. There are some products designed for more than one role, for example a soother holder might incorporate a rattle device or a soft toy.

In dieser Europäischen Norm werden Anforderungen an Werkstoffe, Bau, Ausführung, Verpackung und Kennzeichnung von Schnullerhaltern festgelegt. Sie enthält Prüfverfahren für die festgelegten mechanischen und chemischen Anforderungen. Sämtliche Produkte, die dafür bestimmt sind, beim Kind den Schnuller mit einem anderen Produkt zu verbinden, sind im Anwendungsbereich dieser Norm erfaßt. Es gibt einige Produkte, die für mehr als einen Zweck vorgesehen sind, z.B. könnte ein Schnullerhalter eine Rassel oder ein Weichspielzeug aufnehmen.

La présente norme européenne spécifie les exigences relatives aux matériaux, à la fabrication, aux performances, à l'emballage et à l'étiquetage des attache sucette. Elle comprend des méthodes d'essai portant sur les exigences mécaniques et chimiques spécifiées. Tous les produits destinés à être utilisés par un enfant pour fixer une sucette à un autre produit entrent dans le cadre de la présente norme. Certains produits ont plusieurs fonctions; ainsi, un attache sucette peut-il intégrer un hochet ou un jouet souple.

Product information given in standards has a direct impact on safety. It should contribute to avoiding risks to the child. However, product information is not intended to compensate for design deficiencies and does not in itself make a product safer but is a means for the manufacturer to communicate with the user. Reasonable foreseeable misuse and risks of the product should be made explicit and adequate warnings be given.
All product information should be in the language(s) of the country in which the product is sold. It should be presented so that it is unambiguous, legible and easy to read and comprehend.
A risk analysis should be applied to identify those hazards for which safety-related product information is required.
