In diesem Teil von ISO 6402 wird ein Bezeichnungssystem für thermoplastische, schlagzähe Formmassen auf Basis Acrylnitril/Styrol (oder substituiertem Styrol) - außer Butadien-modifizierte Materialien - festgelegt, das als Grundlage für Spezifikationen dienen kann. ASA, AES, ACS-Formmasse-Typen werden mit Hilfe eines Einteilungssystems voneinander unterschieden, das auf geeigneten Wertebereichen der kennzeichnenden Eigenschaften : a) Vicat-Erweichungstemperatur, b) Schmelze-Massefließrate (MFR), c) Izod-Schlagzähigkeit, d) Biegemodul.

Foreword
IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide
federation of national standards bodies (IS0 member bodies). The work of
preparing International Standards is normally carried out through IS0
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which
a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented
on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-
governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. IS0
collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission
(IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are
circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an International
Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting

International Standard IS0 6402-l was prepared by Technical Committee
lSO/TC 61, Plastics, Subcommittee SC 9, Thermoplastic materials.
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (IS0 6402~1:1990),
the text of which has been brought into accordance with the standard SC 9
frame text.

1 Scope
1 .l This part of IS0 6402 establishes a system of designation for impact-resistant acrylonitrilektyrene (or
substituted styrene) thermoplastic material, excluding butadiene-modified materials, which may be used as the
basis for specifications.
1.2 The types of impact-resistant acrylonitrilektyrene plastic are differentiated from each other by a classification
system based on appropriate levels of the designatory properties
a) Vicat softening temperature
b) melt flow rate
c) lzod impact strength
d) flexural modulus
and on information about intended application and/or method of processing, important properties, additives,
colourants, fillers and reinforcing materials.
1.3 This part of IS0 6402 is applicable to all impact-resistant acrylonitrilektyrene thermoplastic materials,
excluding butadiene-modified materials, having as impact modifier a dispersed elastomeric phase, free of double
bonds of the butadiene type, based on
- acrylic ester (ASA materials);
- ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM) (AES materials);
- chlorinated polyethylene (ACS materials).
It applies to materials ready for normal use and to materials unmodified or modified by colourants, additives, fillers,
etc.

This part of IS0 6402 does not apply to materials
a) containing less than 10 % (m/m) actylonitrile in the continuous phase;
with an lzod impact strength of less than 3 kJ/m2;
b)
c) containing more than 5 % (m/m) of another comonomer or polymer in the continuous phase.
1.4 It is not intended to imply that materials having the same designation give necessarily the same performance.
This part of IS0 6402 does not provide engineering data, performance data or data on processing conditions which
may be required to specify a material for a particular application and/or method of processing.
If such additional properties are required, they shall be determined in accordance with the test methods specified in
part 2 of this International Standard, if suitable.
1.5 In order to specify a thermoplastic material for a particular application or to ensure reproducible processing,
additional requirements may be given in data block 5 (see clause 3, introductory paragraph).
