Windows - Soft and heavy body impact - Test method, safety requirements and classification

This Standard defines the method of test, requirements and classification when determining the effect on a window impacted with a soft and heavy body. Any secondary moving sashes casements or fixed lights which may be mounted internally to the main casements or sashes, shall also be similarly tested. The test applies to all infillings of whatever materials including glass. The test has been devised to suit all window types, configurations and materials.

Diese Norm legt Prüfverfahren, Anforderungen und Klassifizierung für Fenster bei hartem und weichem Stoß fest. Zusätzliche bewegliche Schiebefenster, Fensterflügel oder feste Flügel, die sich an der Innenseite der Hauptschiebfenster oder Hauptschiebefenster oder -fensterflügel befinden, sind ebenfalls zu prüfen. Die Prüfung gilt für Füllungen aus allen Werkstoffen, einschließlich Glas. Diese Prüfung ist anwendbar auf alle Fensterarten, Fenstersysteme und Werkstoffe.

La présente norme définit la méthode d'essai, les prescriptions et la classification concernant la détermination de l'effet sur une fenêtre soumise à un choc avec un corps mou et lourd. Toute fenêtre mobile ou fixe secondaire pouvant être montée de façon interne sur les fenêtres battantes ou coulissantes principales doit être soumise aux mêmes essais. L'essai s'applique à tous les remplissages, quel que soit le matériau, y-compris le verre. L'essai a été conçu de façon à pouvoir être adapté à tout type et configuration de fenêtre ainsi que de matériau la constituant.

This document (EN 13049:2003) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 33 “Doors, windows,
shutters, building hardware and curtain walling”, the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or
by endorsement, at the latest by October 2003, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest
by October 2003.
This European Standard is one of a series of standards for windows.
No existing European Standard is superseded.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following
countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland,
