This document specifies requirements for new traffic cones and new traffic cylinders with retroreflective properties.
This document specifies minimum essential visual and physical performance characteristics; test methods for determination of product performance and the means by which this performance may be communicated to the user and the public including safety enforcement agencies.
The document provides a series of categories or classes by which a traffic cone or traffic cylinder may be specified for use in different applications in accordance with best practice.
In the case of physical properties, performance levels and indicative tests are provided for cold weather, stability, and impact resistance when dropped. Requirements for visual recognition properties, colour, retroreflectivity and luminance are provided.
All of the tests contained in this document already exist in one or more national technical standard(s) of Member State(s), or in legislative requirement(s) or code(s) of practice of Member State(s).
Provision for identification and marking to declared levels of performance is provided.
There are other product shapes which perform similar functions. This document does not cover devices made in other shapes, or which do not meet the design requirements of this document.

In dieser Europäischen Norm werden Anforderungen für Leitkegel und Leitzylinder mit retroreflektierenden Eigenschaften im Neuzustand festgelegt.
Diese Europäische Norm legt wesentliche Mindestanforderungen an das visuelle Erscheinungsbild und an die physikalischen Leistungsanforderungen fest sowie die Prüfverfahren zur Bestimmung der Produkt-eigenschaften und die Verfahren, mit denen diese Eigenschaften den Anwendern und der Öffentlichkeit, einschließlich der für Sicherheitsanforderungen zuständigen Institutionen, bekannt gemacht werden können.
In dieser Europäischen Norm werden Reihen von verschiedenen Kategorien oder Klassen festgelegt, mit denen ein Leitkegel oder Leitzylinder für verschiedene Anwendungsbereiche so zu klassifizieren ist, dass eine größtmögliche Anwendbarkeit in der Praxis erreicht werden kann.
Bei den physikalischen Eigenschaften beziehen sich die Anforderungsniveaus und Prüfverfahren auf Kälteschlagfestigkeit, Elastizität, Standfestigkeit und Widerstandsfähigkeit bei der Fallprüfung. Anforderungen an das visuelle Erscheinungsbild, die Farbe, Retroreflexion und Leuchtdichte werden angegeben.
Alle in dieser Europäischen Norm angegebenen Prüfverfahren werden bereits in einer oder mehreren nationalen Normen oder in gesetzlichen Bestimmungen oder Richtlinien der CEN-Mitgliedsstaaten verwendet.
Es werden Voraussetzungen zur Identifizierung und Kennzeichnung der festgestellten Anforderungsniveaus festgelegt.
Es gibt andere Produktformen, die ähnliche Funktionen erfüllen. Diese Europäische Norm behandelt keine Vorrichtungen, die eine andere Form aufweisen oder nicht mit den Anforderungen an die Konstruktion in dieser Europäischen Norm übereinstimmen.

Signalisation routière verticale - Signaux temporaires - Dispositifs coniques et balises de signalisation

La présente Norme européenne spécifie les exigences applicables aux nouveaux dispositifs coniques et aux nouvelles balises de signalisation ayant des propriétés rétroréfléchissantes.
La présente Norme européenne indique les caractéristiques minimales essentielles de performance visuelle et physique ainsi que les méthodes d'essai permettant de déterminer les performances des produits et les moyens de communiquer ces performances à l'utilisateur et au public, y compris les organismes garants de la sécurité.
La Norme européenne prévoit une série de catégories ou de classes permettant de spécifier un dispositif conique ou une balise de signalisation pour les utiliser selon les règles de l'art dans différentes applications.
Pour ce qui est des propriétés physiques, des niveaux de performance et des essais indicatifs sont prévus pour temps froid, stabilité et résistance au choc en cas de chute. Les exigences en matière de propriétés de reconnaissance visuelle, couleur, rétroréflexion et luminance sont prévues.
Tous les essais mentionnés dans la présente Norme européenne figurent déjà dans une ou plusieurs normes techniques nationales d'un ou de plusieurs États membres ou dans des exigences législatives ou des codes de bonne pratique des États membres.
Elle prévoit des dispositions pour l'identification et le marquage conformément aux niveaux de performance déclarés.
Des produits de formes différentes ont des fonctions similaires. La présente Norme européenne ne couvre pas les dispositifs de formes différentes ou qui ne répondent pas aux exigences de conception de la présente norme.

This document (EN 13422:2004) has been prepared by the Technical Committee CEN/TC 226 "Road
Equipment" the Secretariat of which is held by AFNOR.
No existing document is superseded.
It derives from performance requirements and test methods published in CEN, CENELEC, CIE and
ISO documents together with standards of the CEN member organisations.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by April 2005, and conflicting national standards shall
be withdrawn at the latest by April 2005.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the
following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech
