This document specifies three methods to determine the permeability to gas by measuring the volume of gas diffusing through a rubber or plastics hose or length of tubing used for gas applications in a specified time.
— Method 1 is for determining the permeability of the complete hose wall or length of tubing wall, excluding end fittings, to the test gas.
— Method 2 is for determining the permeability at the hose and fitting interface to the test gas.
— Method 3 is for precisely determining the permeability of the complete hose or length of tubing, including end fittings.

In diesem Dokument werden drei Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Gasdurchlässigkeit durch Messung des Gasvolumens festgelegt, das in einer festgelegten Zeit durch einen Gummi- oder Kunststoffschlauch oder eine Schlauchleitung für Gasanwendungen diffundiert.
Verfahren 1 dient der Bestimmung der Prüfgasdurchlässigkeit der gesamten Schlauchwand oder Schlauchwandlänge mit oder ohne Einlage, mit Ausnahme der Endarmaturen.
Verfahren 2 dient der Bestimmung der Prüfgasdurchlässigkeit im Übergangsbereich von Schlauch und Armatur.
Verfahren 3 dient der präzisen Bestimmung der Durchlässigkeit des gesamten Schlauchs oder der Schlauchlänge mit oder ohne Einlage, einschließlich der Endarmaturen.

Le présent document spécifie trois méthodes pour déterminer la perméabilité au gaz en mesurant le volume de gaz diffusant à travers un tuyau ou une longueur de tube en caoutchouc ou en plastique utilisé pour les applications gazières pendant une durée déterminée.
— La méthode 1 est destinée à déterminer la perméabilité au gaz d'essai de la paroi du tuyau entier ou de la paroi d'une longueur de tube, à l'exclusion des embouts.

Ta dokument določa tri metode za ugotavljanje plinske prepustnosti z merjenjem prostornine plina pri prehajanju skozi gumeno ali polimerno cev ali del cevovoda, ki se uporablja za plinske naprave v določenem času.
– Z metodo 1 se ugotavlja prepustnost celotne cevne stene ali dela cevovoda (razen končnikov) za preskusni plin.
– Z metodo 2 se ugotavlja prepustnost vmesnega dela med cevjo in fitingom za preskusni plin.
– Z metodo 3 se natančno ugotavlja prepustnost celotne cevi ali dela cevovoda, vključno s končniki.

This document (EN ISO 4080:2024) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 45 "Rubber and
rubber products" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 218 “Rubber and plastics hoses
and hose assemblies” the secretariat of which is held by BSI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by December 2024, and conflicting national standards
shall be withdrawn at the latest by December 2024.

This fifth edition cancels and replaces the fourth edition (ISO 4080:2009), which has been technically
revised.
The main changes are as follows:
— revised gas permeability test as a whole;
— title changed;
— terms 3.1 and 3.2 added.
