The purpose of this document is to provide national translations of warnings and instructions for use in the EN 71 series of standards.
The warnings and instructions for use shall be applied in accordance with the requirements and specifications of the EN 71 series of standards for safety of toys.
NOTE The users of this document should be aware that additional markings may be required for certain products in certain countries. Local regulations should be checked.

This document, (CEN/TR 15071:2005) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 52 “Safety of
toys” and the National Member Bodies of CEN.
Introduction
The document contains a compilation of the national translations of warnings and instructions for use in the
EN 71 series of standards.
The document is of particular interest to manufacturers, importers, surveillance authorities and test
laboratories with regard to the application of the correct wording of warnings and instructions for use on toy
products, packaging and in accompanying instructions in the individual national languages.
The warnings and instructions have been extracted from the following European Standards:
EN 71-1:1998, Safety of toys – Part 1: Mechanical and physical properties, and A1, A8
EN 71-2:2003, Safety of toys – Part 2: Flammability
EN 71-4:1990, Safety of toys – Part 4: Experimental sets for chemistry and related activities, and A1
EN 71-5:1993, Safety of toys – Part 5: Chemical toys (sets) other than experimental sets
EN 71-7:2002, Safety of toys – Part 7: Finger paints - Requirements and test methods

The translations are given in the following languages: English, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish,
French, German, Greek, Icelandic, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese,
Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish and Swedish.
NOTE Some warnings differ from those given in the original national standards as their wording has been improved. It is
expected that where this is the case, the text of the national standards will be changed accordingly at their next revision.
Only texts that have been given a specific wording in the standards have been included and not texts which
shall be adapted to the individual products.
It is therefore important to always consult the specific standard to examine whether special requirements shall
be met with regard to the individual warning or instruction for use.
Particular attention is drawn to EN 71-1, Clause 7.1 concerning legal requirements in the European Union,
and to Clause 7.2 concerning requirements for toys not intended for children under 36 months. Also, other
sub-clauses in Clause 7 contain special requirements to be taken into consideration in connection with the
individual warnings.
1 Scope
The purpose of this document it to provide national translations of warnings and instructions for use in the EN
71 series of standards.
The warnings and instructions for use shall be applied in accordance with the requirements and specifications
of the EN 71 series of standards for safety of toys and these standards should always be consulted before
drawing up the text of a warning or instruction for use.
