• Clause 1 extends the scope to DC supplied appliances. For designers and test teams, this means the safety requirements now also apply where the appliance is supplied by direct current, not only by AC arrangements.
• Clause 1 removes the battery-operated appliance item from the scope text, and Annex B is deleted. In practice, battery-specific treatment is no longer provided through this amendment text, so the Part 1 approach applies without the deleted annex modification.
• Clause 12 on charging of metal-ion batteries now says that the Part 1 clause applies. This matters when an appliance includes charging functions, because the general Part 1 requirements become the controlling text for that topic.
• Clause 20.2 strengthens the treatment of protective enclosures, guards and similar parts. These parts must be non-detachable or interlocked and must have adequate mechanical strength, so access control and durability become part of the safety check for moving or hazardous parts.
• Clause 3.1.9 is modified. Users should apply the revised wording in the definitions section when mapping the standard to product design and compliance documents.
• Clause 11.7 is modified. This affects how heating-related requirements are read and applied during evaluation of the appliance.
• The amendment keeps the document aligned with the base European draft and the related amendment package. For implementation, that means the updated clauses must be read in context, not in isolation.
