This European Standard specifies general requirements for the dust measurement of electric motor-operated tools supplied from mains or from batteries. This European Standard applies to those tools with and without dust extraction unit where dust such as mineral dust containing silica or wood dust is expected. This part of EN 50632 sets particular requirements for sanders other than disk type.

Ta evropski standard določa splošne zahteve za merjenje prahu elektromotornih orodij, ki se napajajo prek omrežja ali baterij. Ta standard se uporablja za orodja, pri katerih se pričakuje nabiranje prahu (na primer mineralnega prahu, ki vsebuje kremenico, ali lesnega prahu), ne glede na to, ali so opremljena z enoto za izločevanje prahu.
1.2 Vrste prahu
Prah je razpršena porazdelitev trdnih snovi v plinih, zlasti v zraku, do katere pride pri mehanskih postopkih. V skladu s standardom EN 481 se razlikuje med dvema kategorijama velikosti: vdihljivi in respiratorni delež prahu. Vdihljivi prah se nanaša na celoten vdihljivi delež prahu skozi usta in/ali nos. Respiratorni prah se nanaša na delež vdihljivega prahu, ki lahko zaradi majhne velikosti delcev doseže pljučne mešičke.
Ta del standarda EN 50632 se uporablja za brusilnike betona in diskaste brusilnike.

EN 50632-2-4:2016/A1:2021 is a CLC/CENELEC European Standard that defines particular requirements for dust measurement procedures for sanders other than disk type. It is Part 2-4 of the EN 50632 series and is to be used in conjunction with EN 50632-1:2015. The amendment A1 (2021) updates operating conditions and clarifications based on practical test feedback.   • Speed: maximum speed setting during tests.

    • Wood: 30 N ±5 N for tools <1.5 kg; 50 N ±5 N for tools ≥1.5 kg.
    • Gypsum: feed force sufficient for stable operation (tool‑specific).
• Dust collection and measurement:
  • Minimum collected material thresholds for dust extraction performance:
    • 1 500 g for random orbit sanders ≤140 mm diameter; 2 000 g for >140 mm.
    • 1 500 g for orbital sanders ≤300 W; 2 000 g for >300 W.
    • Exception for sanding plates <100 cm2 (e.g., delta form).
  • Weight of dust determined as mass increase of the dust extraction unit.
• Compliance notes: Amendment A1 clarifies test arrangements and is aligned with CENELEC adoption rules; patent rights may exist.
