Ta del standarda IEC 61853 opisuje standardne referenčne podnebne profile, ki se uporabljajo za izračun energijske učinkovitosti.
IEC 61853-1 opisuje zahteve za vrednotenje zmogljivosti fotonapetostnega modula v vrednostih za moč (W). IEC 61853-2 opisuje preskusne postopke za določanje temperature modula pri sevanju, temperaturi okolice in hitrosti vetra, metodo za merjenje učinkov vpadnega kota ter spektralni odziv. IEC 61853-3 opisuje izračun vrednosti energijske učinkovitosti fotonapetostnega (PV) modula na podlagi podatkov iz standardov IEC 61853-1, IEC 61853-2 in IEC 61853-4.
