Electric toys - Safety

This International Standard deals with the safety of toys that have at least one function dependent on electricity. Additional requirements for experimental sets are given in Annex A. Toys using electricity for secondary functions are within the scope of this standard. Additional requirements for toys incorporating lasers and light-emitting diodes are given in Annex E. In order to comply with this standard, electric toys also have to comply with ISO 8124-1, since it covers hazards other than those arising by the use of electricity.

Igrače, ki uporabljajo elektriko za sekundarne funkcije, so zajete v obsegu tega standarda. Dodatne zahteve za igrače, ki vsebujejo laserje in svetleče diode, so podane v dodatku E. IEC 62115:2017 specifies safety requirements for electric toys that have at least one function dependant on electricity, electric toys being any product designed or intended, whether or not exclusively, for use in play by children under 14 years of age. Examples of electric toys also within the scope of this standard are: - constructional sets; - experimental sets; - functional electric toys (an electric toy that performs and is used in the same way as a product, appliance or installation intended for use by adults, and which may be a scale model of such product, appliance or installation); - electric toy computers as well as a doll's house having an interior lamp. If the packaging is intended to have play value then it is considered to be part of the electric toy. This International Standard only covers the safety aspects of electric toys that relate to an electrical function. This standard covers the safety of electric toys taking power from any source, such as batteries, transformers, solar cells and inductive connections. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2003, Amendment 1 (2004) and Amendment 2 (2010). This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: - the general conditions for tests has been rewritten and modified (Clause 5); - the criteria for reduced testing has been modified (Clause 6); - warnings for toys using button batteries or coin batteries have been added (7.3.3.2, 7.3.3.3); - warnings on ride-on toys have been added (7.5); - the requirements concerning accessibility of batteries have been updated (13.4.1 and 13.4.2); - added requirements to cover toys placed above a child (13.4.4); - added requirements to cover toys connected to other equipment (13.9); - modified the requirements for safety of toys incorporating optical radiation sources (Annex E), to include requirements for using the technical LED data sheet for checking compliance with the specified accessible emission limits (AEL); - updated the details for measurements of the optical radiation from the toy (Annex E); - introduced an informative Annex I concerning measurement methods for toys with an integrated field source generating EMF; - included a normative Annex J concerning safety of remote-controls for electric ride-on toys. The attention of National Committees is drawn to the fact that equipment manufacturers and testing organizations may need a transitional period following publication of a new, amended or revised IEC publication in which to make products in accordance with the new requirements and to equip themselves for conducting new or revised tests. It is the recommendation of the committee that the content of this publication be adopted for implementation nationally not earlier than 12 months or later than 36 months from the date of its publication. Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-39: Particular requirements for commercial electric multi-purpose cooking pans

IEC 60335-2-39:2012 deals with the safety of electrically operated commercial multi-purpose cooking pans not intended for household and similar use, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances connected between one phase and neutral and 480 V for other appliances. This standard also deals with pressurized appliances and appliances with pressurized parts. These appliances are used for processing food for commercial consumption, for example in kitchens of restaurants, canteens, hospitals and in commercial enterprises such as bakeries, butcheries, etc. The electrical part of appliances making use of other forms of energy is also within the scope of this standard. As far as is practicable, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by these types of appliances. Attention is drawn to the fact that for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary. The principal changes in this edition as compared with the fifth edition of IEC 60335-2-39 are as follows (minor changes are not listed): - addition to definition of portable appliances, atmospheric multi-purpose cooking and rated pressure; - deletion of equipotential symbol 5021 of IEC 60417 covered by Part 1; - addition of instructions for multi-purpose cooking pans; - modification on leakage current permissible for portable class l appliances; - addition to abnormal test requirements; - addition to mechanical hazard test for multi-purpose cooking pans; - addition of construction test for multi-purpose cooking pans; - addition to construction requirements for lids and theirs grips; - addition to construction requirements for positioning of pressure reliefs; - addition to construction's fixed appliances which are moved forward and backward for cleaning purposes.

IEC 60034-9:2021 specifies test methods for the determination of sound power level of rotating electrical machines and specifies maximum A-weighted sound power levels for factory acceptance testing of network-supplied, rotating electrical machines in accordance with lEC 60034-1, having methods of cooling according to lEC 60034-6 and degrees of protection according to lEC 60034-5, and having the following characteristics: - standard design, either AC or DC, without additional special electrical, mechanical, or acoustical modifications intended to reduce the sound power level - rated output from 1 kW (or kVA) up to and including 5 500 kW (or kVA) - rated speed not greater than 3 750 min–1 This fifth edition cancels and replaces the fourth edition, published in 2003 and its amendment 1, published in 2007. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) In Table 2 and Table 3 cooling methods IC01, IC11, IC21 and IC31, IC71, IC81 are now covered. b) This edition adds Table 3 for 60 Hz machines, whereas Table 2, which covers only 50 Hz machines, has no change in levels. c) In Table 3, grade A is added to harmonize the highest levels seen in IEC and NEMA, whereas grade B was added to harmonize the lowest, more restrictive levels seen in IEC and NEMA. d) The clause “Determination of noise increments caused by converter supply” has been shifted to Annex B and renamed “Information on typical noise increments caused by converter supply”.
