Luminaires - Part 2-21: Particular requirements - Rope lights
IEC 60598-2-21:2014 specifies requirements for rope lights (sealed lighting chains) fitted with non-replaceable series- or parallel- or a combination of series/parallel-connected light sources for use either indoors or outdoors on supply voltages not exceeding 250 V.

L'IEC 60598-2-21:2014 spécifie les exigences applicables aux cordons lumineux (guirlandes lumineuses scellées) munis de sources lumineuses montées en série, en parallèle ou en combinaison série/parallèle pour emploi à l'intérieur ou à l'extérieur, pour des tensions d'alimentation ne dépassant pas 250 V.

Ta del standarda IEC 60598 določa zahteve za viseče svetilke (zaprte svetlobne nize), opremljene z nezamenljivimi zaporedno, vzporedno ali kombinirano zaporedno/vzporedno vezanimi svetlobnimi viri za notranjo ali zunanjo uporabo z napajalno napetostjo največ 250 V.
OPOMBA 1: V nekaterih državah se namesto izraza »viseča svetilka« uporablja izraz »zaprti svetlobni niz«.
OPOMBA 2: Za proizvode, pri katerih je viseča svetilka pritrjena na okvir ali drug predmet kot okrasek (kot je božiček, snežak ali podoben predmet), se lahko uporabljajo ustrezne točke standardov IEC 60598-2-4 in/ali IEC 60598-2-7.
Ta standard zajema viseče svetilke s fiksnimi ali odstranljivimi dodatki različnih vrst, kot so na primer okrasni elementi v začasnih dekorativnih postavitvah na festivalih, praznovanjih itd. ali v dvo- ali tridimenzionalnih ponazoritvah oseb ali živali (dejanskih ali namišljenih).

FOREWORD
1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote
international co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To
this end and in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications,
Technical Reports, Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as “IEC
Publication(s)”). Their preparation is entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested
in the subject dealt with may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-
governmental organizations liaising with the IEC also participate in this preparation. IEC collaborates closely
with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in accordance with conditions determined by
agreement between the two organizations.
2) The formal decisions or agreements of IEC on technical matters express, as nearly as possible, an international
consensus of opinion on the relevant subjects since each technical committee has representation from all
interested IEC National Committees.
