NEW!IEC 60598-2-4:2017 is available as IEC 60598-2-4:2017 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.IEC 60598-2-4:2017 specifies requirements for portable general purpose luminaires for indoor and/or outdoor use (e.g. garden use), other than handlamps, designed to be used with or incorporating electrical light sources on supply voltages not exceeding 250 V. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 1997. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: - alignment with IEC 60598-1; - modification of the scope, classification and requirements to cover portable luminaires for both indoor and outdoor applications, by introducing the requirements already listed in IEC 60598-2-7; NOTE  In this edition of IEC 60598-2-4 all requirements listed in IEC 60598-2-7 have been incorporated. IEC 60598-2-17:2017 specifies requirements for stage, television, film and photographic studio luminaires (including spot and floodlighting projectors) for use outdoors and indoors, with electric light sources on supply voltages not exceeding 1 000 V. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 1984 and Amendement 2:1990. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) extension of the applicable scope from light source to electric light source and replacement of "tungsten filament, tubular fluorescent and other discharge lamps" with "electric light source" in 17.1. b) consideration of the fact that there are many LED luminaires with non-replaceable light source, and light source without a glass bulb, or with low operation temperature: the applicable scope of relevant clauses therefore only applies to replaceable light source luminaires with a glass bulb lamp, or with high surface temperature.

This Part 2 of IEC 60598 specifies requirements for ground recessed luminaires incorporating electric light sources for operation from supply voltages up to 1 000 V, for indoor or outdoor use, e.g. in gardens, yards, carriageways, parking lots, cycleways, footways, pedestrian areas, swimming pools areas outside zones for SELV, nurseries and similar applications.

IEC 62722-2-1:2014 specifies the performance requirements for LED luminaires, together with the test methods and conditions, required to show compliance with this standard. It applies to LED luminaires for general lighting purposes. This first edition of IEC 62722-2-1 cancels and replaces IEC PAS 62722-2-1. published in 2011. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the Publicly Available Specification. a) The testing time is aligned with IEC 62717 and the option of 2 000 h is removed. Products containing modules not in compliance with IEC 62717 are now tested to 6 000 h. b) Testing sample sizes have been modified to give valid statistical data. c) The temperature reduction of 10 °C for street lanterns and floodlights has been removed. d) Life definitions have been updated and aligned with IEC 62717.

IEC 62722-1:2014 covers specific performance and environmental requirements for luminaires, incorporating electric light sources for operation from supply voltages up to 1 000 V. Unless otherwise detailed, performance data covered under the scope of this standard are for the luminaires in a condition representative of new manufacture, with any specified initial aging procedures completed. This first edition cancels and replaces IEC PAS 62722-1 published in 2011 and constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to IEC PAS 62722-1. a) The inclusion of more precise requirements for the comparison of the photometric distribution shape, with the comparison method given in Annex D. b) Further regional standards added to the schedule given in Annex A.

This eighth edition cancels and replaces the seventh edition published in 2008. This edition constitutes a technical revision and includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) requirements to support the construction methods for new LED luminaires entering the market; b) photobiological requirements extended; c) more precise requirements for insulation between different types of electrical circuit; d) other general updates and improvements.

For combinations where rope lights (also known as sealed lighting chains) are included, see IEC 60598-2-21. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition (2010). This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition, where the requirements for rope lights (sealed lighting chains) have been removed and are now dealt with in IEC 60598-2-21.

IEC 60598-2-22:2014 specifies requirements for emergency luminaires for use with electrical lamps on emergency power supplies not exceeding 1 000 V. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition published in 1997, AMD1:2002 and AMD2:2008. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) Clause 22.3, addition of definitions for PELF and Self-contained portable emergency luminaire; b) Clause 22.5, updated with the introduction of requirements for non-replaceable lamp and batteries; c) Clause 22.6, improved requirements to confirm that the charge indication is correctly connected to the circuit together with other clarifications regarding the controlgear and the remote box with its connecting cabe to the emergency luminaire; d) Clause 22.12, improved requirements to ensure that the luminaire shall not become unsafe; e) Clause 22.16, full revision of the photometric testing to align with ISO and CIE; f) Clause 22.17, now only references the requirements which are now covered in IEC 61347 2-7; g) Clause 22.19, now only references the requirements which are now covered in IEC 61347 2-7; h) Annex A, now includes nickel metal hydride batteries and reference to cell types in IEC 61951-1; i) Annex B, minor changes to the classifications; j) Annex C, Figure C.1 deleted in favour of a revised text; k) Annex E, the additional requirements covering self-contained portable emergency luminaires. This publication is to be read in conjunction with IEC 60598-1:2014.

IEC 60598-2-24:2013 series specifies requirements for luminaires intended for use where the necessity of limited temperature on the outer surface exists, due to the risk of thermal effects, combustion or degradation of materials but where the risk of explosion in the atmosphere does not exist. The luminaires are for use with electric light sources on supply voltages not exceeding 1 000 V. This standard specifically excludes requirements for luminaires for use in explosive gas atmospheres and explosive dust atmospheres. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 1997. It constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) change of required degree of protection from IP6X to IP4X to harmonize with the international wiring rules; b) temperature limits introduced for glass surface of any light source exposed to risk of dust.

IEC 60598-2-11:2013 specifies requirements for household aquarium luminaires incorporating electric light sources on supply voltages not exceeding 1 000 V. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2005. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) Subclause 11.1, change of the scope to open the standard for all kinds of electrical light sources. b) Subclause 11.4.2, change of the definition in order to clarify non-permanently attached aquarium luminaire. c) Subclause 11.11.3, for indoor operated aquarium luminaire, change of the size of external cable to at least 0,75 mm2 instead of 1,0 mm2 in the former edition. This publication is to be read in conjunction with IEC 60598-1:2008.

IEC 60598-2-12:2013 specifies requirements for mains socket-outlet mounted nightlights for use with electric light sources, on supply voltages not exceeding 250 V a.c. 50/60 Hz. It is to be read in conjunction with those sections of Part 1 to which reference is made. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2006. It constitutes a technical revision for harmonization of thermal tests in 12.13 to relevant parts of 10.12.1 of IEC 60598-2-10.

IEC 60598-2-8:2013 specifies requirements for handlamps and similar portable luminaires which are held in the hand, hooked up or resting on a surface for use with electric light sources on supply voltages not exceeding 250 V. It is to be read in conjunction with those sections of Part 1 to which reference is made. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition, published in 1996, its Amendment 1 (2000) and its Amendment 2 (2007). It constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition. a) The requirements have been updated to make them consistent and to solve contradicting requirements introduced in the Amendment 2. In that amendment, a requirement was introduced specifying that handlamp shall always be classified as rough service luminaire only. The implication of this statement was that according to 4.13.4 of Part 1 this kind of luminaire shall always be IP54. This requirements is in contradiction with several points of this Part 2 where it is considered acceptable for ordinary luminaires (e.g. 8.11.1, 8.11.2 and 8.13.1). b) Furthermore, the contradiction between the requirement in 8.7.1 and 8.7.2 regarding the type of material used for the protective cover has been corrected.

IEC 62034:2012 specifies the basic performance and safety requirements for individual products and components that are incorporated into automatic test systems for use with emergency lighting systems on supply voltages not exceeding 1 000 V. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2006. It constitutes a technical revision. This section does not apply to air-handling or liquid-cooled luminaires. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 1996 and its Amendment 1 (1997), of which is constitutes a technical revision. The changes introduced by this new edition are those required to maintain consistency later versions of IEC 60598-1 that have been published since the previous edition of this standard.

IEC 60598-2-23:2020 specifies requirements for extra-low-voltage lighting systems for ELV light sources, intended for ordinary interior use on supply voltages not exceeding 1 000 V. The luminaires, being connected in parallel, are supplied via freely suspended continuous supporting conductors or profiles, the current in the ELV part of the system not exceeding 25 A. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 1996 and Amendment 1:2000. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This European Standard specifies the provision of illumination of escape routes and safety signs in the event of failure of the normal supply, and specifies the minimum provision of such emergency lighting based on the size, type and usage of the premises. This standard relates to the provision of electric emergency escape lighting in all work places and premises open to the public. This European Standard does not cover private domestic premises but its provisions are applicable to common access routes within multi-storey dwellings. This European Standard is also applicable to standby lighting used as emergency escape lighting. There are emerging way guidance techniques that, when applied to escape routes in addition to conventional emergency lighting luminaires, can enhance its effectiveness in an emergency.
