Paints and varnishes - Coating materials and coating systems for exterior wood - Part 2: Performance specification
This part of EN 927 addresses performance criteria for coating systems on exterior wood. Performance requirements are specified according to three categories of end use (defined in EN 927 1) in terms of two mandatory tests namely natural weathering performance testing carried out in accordance with EN 927-3, and water permeability in accordance with EN 927-5. Additional optional tests (non-mandatory) are tabled which may be used by suppliers, or for specification purposes, to provide additional information, to a standardized format, on aspects of performance relevant to specific situations. The majority of test methods are drawn from EN 927 (all parts), but where relevant additional tests from other national and international sources are used.
Requirements for claiming conformity with FprEN 927-2 are defined and provide flexibility for different situations and can also provide a basis for certification.

Dieses Dokument legt Leistungskriterien für Beschichtungssysteme auf Holz im Außenbereich fest. Die Leistungsanforderungen werden anhand der Ergebnisse zweier Pflichtprüfungen – der Freibewitterungs¬prüfung nach EN 927 3 und Wasserdurchlässigkeitsprüfung nach EN 927 5 – nach den drei (in EN 927 1 angegebenen) Anwendungskategorien festgelegt. Es werden zusätzliche freiwillige (nicht verpflichtende) Prüfungen in Tabellenform angegeben, die von Anbietern oder für Spezifikationszwecke angewendet werden können, um auf genormter Grundlage zusätzliche Informationen über Leistungsaspekte bei speziellen Anwendungen zu erhalten. Der Großteil der Prüfverfahren stammt aus der Normenreihe EN 927 (alle Teile), ggf. werden jedoch auch zusätzliche Prüfungen aus anderen nationalen und internationalen Quellen angewendet.
Es werden Anforderungen für das Erheben des Anspruches auf Konformität mit diesem Dokument festgelegt, um Flexibilität in unterschiedlichen Situationen sowie eine Grundlage für die Zertifizierung zu bieten.

Le présent document traite des critères de performance s’appliquant aux systèmes de peinture pour le bois en extérieur. Les exigences de performance sont spécifiées selon trois catégories d’usage final (définies dans l’EN 927 1) en termes de deux essais obligatoires, à savoir l’essai de vieillissement naturel réalisé conformément à l’EN 927 3 et l’essai de perméabilité à l’eau réalisé conformément à l’EN 927 5. Les essais supplémentaires facultatifs (non obligatoires) sont indiqués dans des tableaux et peuvent être utilisés par les fournisseurs, ou à des fins de spécification, pour fournir des informations supplémentaires, selon un format normalisé, sur des aspects des performances pertinents pour des situations spécifiques. La majorité des méthodes d’essai sont extraites de la série EN 927 (toutes les parties) mais, le cas échéant, des essais supplémentaires pertinents issus d’autres sources nationales et internationales sont utilisés.
Les exigences relatives à la déclaration de conformité au présent document sont définies, offrent une certaine souplesse pour différentes situations et peuvent également servir de base de certification.

Ta del standarda EN 927 obravnava merila lastnosti za premazne sisteme za zunanjo zaščito lesa. Zahteve glede lastnosti so določene v skladu s tremi kategorijami končne uporabe (opredeljeno v standardu EN 927-1) v zvezi z dvema obveznima preskusoma, tj. preskušanje lastnosti naravnih vremenskih vplivov v skladu s standardom EN 927-3 in prepustnost vode v skladu s standardom EN 927-5. Predlagani so dodatni poljubni preskusi (neobvezni), ki jih lahko uporabijo dobavitelji, ali za namene specifikacije, da se zagotovijo dodatne informacije, v standardizirani obliki, in sicer v zvezi z vidiki lastnosti, ustreznih za posebne primere. Večina preskusnih metod izhaja iz standarda EN 927 (vsi deli), kjer pa je to primerno, so uporabljeni dodatni preskusi iz drugih nacionalnih in mednarodnih virov.
Določene so zahteve za zagotavljanje skladnosti s standardom FprEN 927-2, ki zagotavljajo prilagodljivost za različne primere in jih je mogoče uporabiti kot podlago za certificiranje.

This document (EN 927-2:2022) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 139 “Paints and
varnishes”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by May 2022, and conflicting national standards shall be
withdrawn at the latest by May 2022.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN 927-2:2014.
The following significant technical changes have been made with respect to EN 927-2:2014:
a) test profiles for the three main end-use categories (as specified in EN 927-1) have been updated to
include additional test methods;
b) Existing test methods (5.2) have been updated to include additional methods and 5.3 (Test methods
in preparation) has been deleted.

Introduction
This document is one of a number of parts of EN 927. EN 927-1 addresses the issue of terminology for
the wide variety of exterior coatings for wood that are now available. EN 927-1 also provides a
framework for communicating information on the suitability of a coating for particular specific end-use
categories. Improved communication is beneficial in the removal of technical barriers to trade. However,
there remains the problem of comparing products tested, or likely to be exposed, in different climatic
regions, and the relevance of tests for different categories of end-use. This document addresses these
issues and sets a limited number of mandatory performance criteria combined with optional tests that
can provide additional information to a standardized format.
