ISO 9241-125 provides requirements and recommendations for the visual presentation of information and specific properties such as the syntactic or semantic aspects of information, e.g. coding techniques. These requirements and recommendations can be utilised throughout the design process (e.g., as specification and guidance for designers during design or as a basis for heuristic evaluation).
This International Standard applies to all visual user interfaces controlled by software. Requirements or recommendations that do not apply to all types of visual interfaces clearly indicate any limitations to their applicability.
Presentation of information depends upon the visual design approach, the task, the user, the environment and the single or multiple technologies that might be used for presenting the information. Consequently, ISO 9241-125 cannot be applied without knowledge of the context of use, and it is not intended to be used as a prescriptive set of rules to be applied in its entirety. Rather, it assumes that the designer has proper information available concerning task and user requirements and understands the use of available technology.
Some of the requirements and recommendations in this International Standard are based on Latin-based language usage and might not apply, or might need to be modified, for use with a different language. In applying those requirements and recommendations that assume a specific language base (e.g., alphabetic ordering of coding information, items in a list), it is important that care is taken to follow the intent of the standard when translation is required to a different language.
ISO 9241-125 does not address auditory or tactile/ haptic presentation of information or modality shifting in order to present visual information in other modalities.

Dieses Dokument enthält eine Anleitung für die visuelle Darstellung von Informationen, welche über eine Software (ungeachtet des Geräts) gesteuert wird. Es enthält bestimmte Eigenschaften wie syntaktische oder semantische Aspekte von Informationen, z. B. Kodierungsmethoden, und enthält Bestimmungen für die Organisation von Informationen unter Berücksichtigung der menschlichen Wahrnehmung und der Gedächtnisleistungen. Für diejenigen Bestimmungen, die nicht auf bestimmte Arten von visuellen Schnittstellen anwendbar sind, werden jegliche Beschränkungen hinsichtlich der Anwendbarkeit klar herausgestellt. Besondere Einzelheiten zu Tabellen, Diagrammen oder der Visualisierung von Informationen werden nicht behandelt.
Dieses Dokument kann während des Entwicklungsprozesses herangezogen werden (z. B. als Spezifikation und Anleitung für Entwickler während der Entwicklungsphase oder als Basis für eine heuristische Bewertung). Die Bestimmungen für die Darstellung von Informationen in diesem Dokument hängen vom Ansatz der visuellen Gestaltung, der Aufgabe, dem Benutzer, der Umgebung und der Technologie bzw. den Technologien ab, die zur Darstellung dieser Informationen verwendet werden. Folglich kann dieses Dokument nicht ohne Kenntnis des Nutzungskontextes angewandt werden. Die Norm ist nicht als vorschreibendes Regelwerk gedacht, das in seiner Gänze Anwendung zu finden hat, sondern geht vielmehr davon aus, dass der Entwickler über angemessene Informationen hinsichtlich der Aufgaben- und Nutzungsanforderungen verfügt und die Anwendung der verfügbaren Technologie versteht.
Einige der Bestimmungen in diesem Dokument basieren auf der Verwendung von Sprachen des lateinischen Schriftsystems und können unter Umständen nicht auf Sprachen mit anderen Alphabeten angewandt werden bzw. müssen ggf. für diese angepasst werden. Hinsichtlich der Anwendung dieser Bestimmungen, welche eine bestimmte Sprachbasis voraussetzen (z. B. eine alphabetische Anordnung von kodierten Informationen, Punkte in einer Liste), ist es wichtig sicherzustellen, dass die Intention dieser Norm berücksichtigt wird, wenn eine Übersetzung in eine andere Sprache notwendig ist.
Dieses Dokument behandelt keine akustische oder taktile/haptische Darstellung von Informationen oder Modalitätsänderungen für die Darstellung visueller Informationen in anderen Modalitäten.
ANMERKUNG ISO 9241 112 enthält übergeordnete ergonomiebezogene Empfehlungen, die auf alle Modalitäten anwendbar sind.

ISO 9241-125:2017 fournit un document d'orientation pour la présentation visuelle d'informations sous le contrôle d'un logiciel, indépendamment du support. Il inclut des propriétés spécifiques telles que les aspects syntaxiques ou sémantiques des informations, par exemple les techniques de codage, et fournit des dispositions relatives à l'organisation des informations en tenant compte des capacités humaines de perception et de mémorisation. Les dispositions qui ne s'appliquent pas à des types spécifiques d'interfaces visuelles indiquent clairement les éventuelles limites de leur applicabilité. Certaines des dispositions du présent document se basent sur l'utilisation d'une langue d'origine latine et leur utilisation avec une langue utilisant un autre alphabet peut s'avérer impossible, ou éventuellement nécessiter une modification. En appliquant celles qui supposent une base linguistique spécifique (par exemple ordre alphabétique des informations de codage, des éléments d'une liste), il est important de veiller à respecter l'esprit de la norme lorsqu'une traduction dans une autre langue est exigée.
ISO 9241-125:2017 ne concerne pas la présentation auditive ou tactile/haptique des informations, ni le transfert de modalité à une fin de présentation d'informations visuelles dans d'autres modalités.
NOTE L'ISO 9241‑112 contient des recommandations ergonomiques de haut niveau qui s'appliquent à toutes les modalités.

Standard ISO 9241-125 določa zahteve in priporočila za vizualen prikaz informacij in posebnih lastnosti, kot so sintaktični ali semantični vidiki informacij, npr. tehnike kodiranja. Te zahteve in priporočila je mogoče uporabiti skozi celotni postopek načrtovanja (npr. kot specifikacije in smernice za načrtovalce med načrtovanjem, osnova za hevristično vrednotenje). This document (EN ISO 9241-125:2017) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 159
“Ergonomics” in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 122 “Ergonomics” the secretariat of
which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by April 2018, and conflicting national standards shall be
withdrawn at the latest by April 2018.
