Wood-based panels - Melamine faced boards for interior uses - Definition, requirements and classification

This document specifies the surface requirements and dimensional tolerances for decorative melamine faced boards for interior use which are common for particleboards, extruded particleboards fibreboards and sandwich boards for furniture.
This document does not apply to boards laminated with so called priming foils or finish foils and laminates according to EN 438 1.
This document does not apply to laminate floor coverings.
Melamine faced wood-based boards in accordance with this document can be referred to as MFB.

Holzwerkstoffe - Melaminbeschichtete Platten zur Verwendung im Innenbereich - Definition, Anforderungen und Klassifizierung

Dieses Dokument legt die Anforderungen an die Oberfläche und die Maßtoleranzen für dekorative melaminbeschichtete Platten zur Verwendung im Innenbereich fest, für die üblicherweise Spanplatten, Strangpressplatten, Faserplatten und Sandwichplatten für Möbel verwendet werden.
Dieses Dokument gilt nicht für Platten, die mit sogenannten Grundierfolien, Finishfolien oder mit Schichtpressstoffplatten nach EN 438 1 beschichtet sind.
Dieses Dokument gilt nicht für Laminatboden.
Melaminbeschichtete Holzwerkstoffe in Übereinstimmung mit diesem Dokument können als MFB bezeichnet werden.

Le présent document indique les caractéristiques de surface et les tolérances dimensionnelles associées aux panneaux surfacés mélaminés décoratifs pour usage en intérieur, qui sont communes aux panneaux de particules, aux panneaux de particules extrudés, aux panneaux de fibres et aux panneaux sandwiches pour meubles.
Le présent document ne s'applique pas aux panneaux revêtus par des couches d'apprêt ou des papiers décors secs (« finish foil ») et des plaques de stratifié conformes à l'EN 438 1.
Le présent document ne s'applique pas aux revêtements de sols stratifiés.
Les panneaux à base de bois surfacés mélaminés conformes au présent document peuvent être désignés par PSM (MFB).

This document (prEN 14322:2020) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC “Wood-based

panels”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This document is currently submitted to the CEN Enquiry.
This document will supersede EN 14322:2017.
Compared to EN 14322:2017 the following modifications have been made:

a) spatially resolved spectral measurement technology added as an option in 5.1 to determine colour

matching.

1 Scope

This document specifies the surface requirements and dimensional tolerances for decorative melamine

faced boards for interior use which are common for particleboards, extruded particleboards

fibreboards and sandwich boards for furniture.

MFB

board manufactured by directly applying uncured aminoplastic resin impregnated papers to one or

both faces of board substrates and achieving bonding and curing in the same process using heat and

pressure but without the use of an intermediate adhesive

Note 1 to entry: The resin of the surface layer is an aminoplastic resin (mainly melamine resin).

Note 2 to entry: The board surfaces can be smooth or structured on one or both faces and the outer surfaces

having decorative colours or design.
