TRS - Technical drawings, quantities, units, symbols and graphical symbols

This document specifies requirements and guidelines for organizations to consider biodiversity in their strategies and operations, thereby adopting a biodiversity approach.
It is applicable to any type of organization, irrespective of its size or nature (e.g. large groups, public institutions, local authorities, mid-cap companies, associations, micro-structures, single-member companies), sector, level of development and the extent to which it includes biodiversity protection in its activities.

This document specifies graphical symbols for diagrams related to industrial components, products and processing.
This document constitutes a symbol library, from which users can use the symbols or created symbol examples for use in diagrams (see Tables 1 to 149).
General rules and guidance for the preparation and presentation of graphical symbols are given in ISO 14617-1. Application rules for the symbols are shown in normative Annex A.
This document does not apply to:  
— graphical symbols for fluid power objects, see ISO 1219-1 (the collective application standard of the ISO 14617 series);
— symbols of measurement and control functions such as mathematical functions and process functions;  
— graphical symbols for electrotechnical objects, see the IEC 60617 database.
Symbols deleted from the previous edition of the ISO 14617 series are summarized in informative Annex B as a reference. The alphabetic index of symbols defined in this document is shown in informative Annex C.

IEC 80000-13:2025 specifies names, symbols and definitions for quantities and units used in information science and technology. Where appropriate, conversion factors are also given. Prefixes for binary multiples are also given. International Standard IEC 80000-13 has been prepared by IEC technical committee 25: Quantities and units in close cooperation with ISO/TC 12: Quantities and units.
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2008. This edition constitutes a technical revision.
This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
addition of new prefixes for binary multiples.

This document specifies rules to identify specifications in the technical product documentation (TPD). It is applicable, if needed, to facilitate communication.

This document specifies how to uniquely identify the integral features of a part by an integral feature indicator with a unique alpha-numerical label and how indication in technical product documentation (TPD) is done, where needed to improve human readability.
The proportions and dimensions of graphical symbols for a simplified indication of repeated features are also specified.

This document specifies a method for the classification of requirements based on severity and susceptibility. The classification method requires a system in line with the framework described in ISO 24096-1 to form a complete system.
This document:
—     gives guidance on the needed elements for a consistent evaluation of the severity over time, and supports a company business model and its brand image;
—     gives background to why additional parameters alongside severity are useful as a base for classification;
—     adds susceptibility as a viable parameter along with severity;
—     gives guidance on the methodology for classification requirements using severity and susceptibility.

This document specifies a framework for building systems for the classification of requirements. Such systems can be used to indicate requirements of special importance, and communicate them for production set-up, verification, audit, etc.
This document:
—     gives background information why such systems are useful in many areas of manufacturing;
—     can be referred to for the concept of classification of requirements;
—     functions as a framework for applying such systems in technical product documentation (TPD);
—     indicates the needed elements for a classification system;
—     supports with aspects in the choice of symbols for a classification system.
As a framework, this document does not give the details of a specific classification system. Instead, it functions as a basis for an organization-specific system which contains details such as notations and symbols, classification levels, assessment procedures, etc., including usage and interpretation in the TPD.
This document does not specify the contractual consequences of a classification (e.g. needed actions such as choice of tools, reliability index or process capability for a classification level) nor other references to standards or documents for handling classifications and nonconformity to requirements.

This document provides principles, criteria and guidance for the design of graphical symbols for use in safety signs as defined in ISO 3864-1, and for the safety sign element of product safety labels as defined in ISO 3864-2.

Based on these principles, rules and guidance are given for the formulation of unambiguous reference designations for objects in any system.
The reference designation identifies objects for the purpose of creation and retrieval of information about an object and, where realized, about its corresponding component.
A reference designation labelled at a component is the key to finding information about that object among different kinds of documents.

This document also specifies a classification of objects and corresponding letter codes for use in reference designations of object occurences.
This document is not intended for manufacturers or system-related designations of individuals (e.g. inventory number or serial number) or for product types (e.g. article number or parts number).

This document specifies graphical symbols for the purposes of public information.
This document is generally applicable to public information symbols in all locations and all sectors where the public has access. However, it is not applicable to safety signs or those sectors subject to specific regulations (e.g. traffic signs on public roads).
This document specifies the original symbols that can be scaled for reproduction and application purposes.
The symbols can be used in conjunction with text to improve comprehension.

This document specifies bending strengths and a test method for black leads of HB hardness degree used for mechanical pencils for technical drawings.

This document gives general information and definitions concerning quantities, systems of quantities, units, quantity and unit symbols, and coherent unit systems, especially the International System of Quantities (ISQ).
The principles laid down in this document are intended for general use within the various fields of science and technology, and as an introduction to other parts of this International Standard.
The ISO/IEC 80000 series does not, as yet, cover ordinal quantities and nominal properties.

IEC 80000-6:2022 gives names, symbols, and definitions for quantities and units of electromagnetism. Where appropriate, conversion factors are also given. International Standard IEC 80000-6 has been prepared by IEC technical committee 25: Quantities and units, and their letter symbols in close cooperation with ISO/TC 12, Quantities and units.
This standard is based on classical electromagnetism, i.e. mainly Maxwell’s equations. No reference is made to quantum field theories.

This document establishes the types of lines used in technical drawings (e.g. diagrams, plans or maps), their designations and their configurations, as well as general rules for the draughting of lines. In addition, this document specifies general rules for the representation of leader and reference lines and their components as well as for the arrangement of instructions on or at leader lines in technical documents. Annexes have been provided for specific information on mechanical, construction and shipbuilding technical drawings.
For the purposes of this document the term “technical drawing” is interpreted in the broadest possible sense, encompassing the total package of documentation specifying the product (workpiece, subassembly, assembly).

This document specifies requirements to reduce the risk of asphyxiation from caps for writing and marking instruments. It relates to such instruments which in normal or foreseeable circumstances are likely to be used by children up to the age of 14 years.

The ISO 7000 database provides a collection of graphical symbols which are placed on equipment or parts of
equipment of any kind in order to instruct the person(s) using the equipment as to its operation.
Each graphical symbol is identified by a reference number and contains a title, graphical representations in
vectorized and non-vectorized formats, and some additional data as applicable, such as the function or the
description of the symbol, the intended use, related symbols or publications. Various search and navigation
facilities allow for easy retrieval of graphical symbols.

This document prescribes safety signs for the purposes of accident prevention, fire protection, health hazard information and emergency evacuation.
The shape and colour of each safety sign are according to ISO 3864‑1 and the design of the graphical symbols is according to ISO 3864‑3.
This document is applicable to all locations where safety issues related to people need to be addressed. However, it is not applicable to the signalling used for guiding rail, road, river, maritime and air traffic and, in general, to those sectors subject to a regulation which may differ with regard to certain points of this document and of the ISO 3864 series.
