This document specifies the safety requirements applicable to all installations.
In particular, it will include new requirements for better taking into account the effects of wind.
It will also include new requirements relating to the prevention of accidents and the protection of worker

Dieses Dokument legt die allgemeinen Bestimmungen der Sicherheitsanforderungen an Seilbahnen für die Personenbeförderung fest. Ergänzende Sicherheitsanforderungen an Zweiseil-Pendelbahnen ohne Tragseilbremse werden in EN 12929-2 festgelegt.
Festgelegt in diesem Teil der EN 12929 werden allgemeine technische Merkmale, die Grundsätze für die Planung und die allgemeinen Sicherheitsanforderungen.
Nicht festgelegt in diesem Teil der EN 12929 werden Einzelheiten für den Betrieb und die Instandhaltung, Berechnungen und detaillierte Bestimmungen über die Ausführung der Bauteile.
Dieser Teil der EN 12929 enthält Anforderungen über die Unfallverhütung und den Arbeitnehmerschutz unbeschadet der Anwendung nationaler Vorschriften.
Nationale Vorschriften mit bau- oder ordnungsrechtlichem Charakter oder die dem Schutz besonderer Personengruppen dienen, bleiben unberührt.
Nicht für alle besonderen Personengruppen (z.B. Personen mit eingeschränkter Mobilität) wird grundsätzlich immer bei allen Typen von Seilbahnen eine Beförderung möglich sein. Es ist jedoch Ziel einem möglichst großen Personenkreis eine Beförderung mit einer Seilbahn zu ermöglichen.
Diese Norm gilt weder für Seilbahnen des Güterverkehrs noch für Aufzüge.

Le présent document établit les dispositions générales relatives aux prescriptions de sécurité pour les installations à câbles destinées à transporter des personnes. Des prescriptions de sécurité complémentaires pour les téléphériques bicâbles à va-et-vient sans frein de chariot sont définies dans l’EN 12929-2.
La présente partie de l’EN 12929 spécifie les caractéristiques techniques générales, les principes de conception et les prescriptions générales de sécurité.
La présente partie de l’EN 12929 ne détaille ni l’exploitation et la maintenance, ni les calculs et les dispositions concernant la réalisation des composants.
La présente partie de l’EN 12929 comprend des prescriptions relatives à la prévention des accidents et à la protection des travailleurs, sans affecter l’application des prescriptions nationales.
Les réglementations nationales dans le domaine de la construction ou destinées à protéger des groupes de personnes particuliers restent pleinement en vigueur.
En principe, il n’est pas toujours possible de transporter tous les groupes de personnes particuliers (les personnes à mobilité réduite, par exemple) avec tous les types d’installations à câbles. Le but est toutefois de permettre de transporter le plus grand nombre de personnes possible avec une installation à câbles.
La présente norme ne s’applique ni aux installations de transport à câbles destinées aux marchandises, ni aux ascenseurs.
