This part of IEC 61003 gives guidelines for inspection and routine testing of electrical and pneumatic instruments with two- or multi-state output, for instance, for acceptance tests or after repair. For a full evaluation, IEC 61003-1 is used. Whenever possible any test carried out is to be in accordance with IEC 61298 series. This part of IEC 61003 is applicable to electrical and pneumatic industrial-process instruments, using measured values that are continuous signals. The set point value may be either a mechanical (position, force, etc.) or a standard signal. These instruments may be used as controllers or as switches for alarms and other similar purposes. Quantitative criteria for acceptable performance should be established by agreement between manufacturer and user, and the report on the tests clarifies which tests were carried out. The requirements of this standard are effective when agreed by the manufacturer and the user.

La CEI 61003-2:2009 donne des lignes directrices pour les inspections et les essais individuels de série des instruments électriques et pneumatiques à sorties à deux ou plusieurs états, par exemple pour les essais de recette ou après réparation. Za celotno ovrednotenje se uporablja IEC 61003-1. Kadar je to možno, naj bo vsak izveden preskus v skladu s serijo IEC 61298. Ta del IEC 61003 se uporablja za električne in pnevmatične instrumente industrijskega postopka, ki uporabljajo izmerjene vrednosti, le-te pa so kontinuirani signali. Nastavljena točkovna vrednost je lahko ali mehanska (položaj, sila itd.) ali standardni signal. Ti instrumenti se lahko uporabljajo kot regulatorji ali kot stikala za alarme in v druge podobne namene. Kvantitativni kriteriji za sprejemljivo delovanje morajo biti vzpostavljeni s sporazumom med proizvajalcem in uporabnikom, poročilo o preskusih pa pojasnjuje, kateri preskusi so bili izvedeni. Zahteve tega standarda so učinkovite, kadar se o njih sporazumeta  proizvajalec in uporabnik.

to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and was approved by CENELEC as EN 61003-2 on 2009-09-01.
The following dates were fixed:

FOREWORD
1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote
international co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To
this end and in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications,
Technical Reports, Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as “IEC
Publication(s)”). Their preparation is entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested
in the subject dealt with may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-
governmental organizations liaising with the IEC also participate in this preparation. IEC collaborates closely
with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in accordance with conditions determined by
agreement between the two organizations.
2) The formal decisions or agreements of IEC on technical matters express, as nearly as possible, an international
