Thermal insulating products for building equipment and industrial installations - Determination of water vapour transmission properties of preformed pipe insulation (ISO 12629:2022)

This European Standard specifies the equipment and procedure for determining the water vapour transmission properties in the steady state under specified test conditions for test specimens of preformed pipe insulation. It is applicable to thermal insulating products.
It is intended to be used for homogeneous materials (see NOTE) and for products which may have integral skins or adhered facings of some different material.
NOTE   A material is considered to be homogeneous in terms of mass distribution if its density is approximately the same throughout, i.e. if the measured density values are close to its mean density.
The water vapour transmission rate and permeance values are specific to the test specimen (i.e. the product) thickness tested. For homogeneous products, the water vapour permeability is a property of the material.
If the pipe insulation is cut from a flat product, then the water vapour transmission properties can be obtained from tests carried out on the flat product with similar properties in accordance with EN 12086.

Wärmedämmstoffe für die Haustechnik und für betriebstechnische Anlagen - Bestimmung der Wasserdampfdurchlässigkeit von vorgeformten Rohrdämmstoffen (ISO 12629:2022)

Diese Internationale Norm legt Prüfeinrichtungen und Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Wasserdampf-durchlässigkeits-Eigenschaften von Probekörpern aus vorgeformten Rohrdämmstoffen im stationären Zustand unter definierten Prüfbedingungen fest. Sie gilt für Wärmedämmprodukte.
Sie ist dafür vorgesehen, bei homogenen Dämmstoffen (siehe folgende Anmerkung) und bei Produkten, die bestimmte Oberflächenschichten oder Kaschierungen aus anderen Werkstoffen enthalten können, angewendet zu werden.
ANMERKUNG Ein Dämmstoff wird hinsichtlich seiner Massenverteilung als homogen angesehen, wenn seine Dichte überall etwa gleich ist, das heißt, wenn die gemessenen Werte nahe beim Mittelwert seiner Dichte liegen.
Die Wasserdampf-Diffusionsstromdichte und der Wasserdampf-Diffusionsdurchlasskoeffizient sind abhängig von der Dicke des geprüften Probekörpers bzw. des geprüften Produkts. Für homogene Produkte ist der Wasserdampf-Diffusionsleitkoeffizient eine Stoffeigenschaft.
Ist die Rohrschale aus einem ebenen Produkt herausgeschnitten worden, können die Wasserdampf-durchlässigkeits-Eigenschaften aus Prüfungen bestimmt werden, die nach ISO 12572 an dem ebenen Produkt mit ähnlichen Eigenschaften durchgeführt wurden.

Le présent document spécifie les équipements nécessaires et les modes opératoires à suivre pour déterminer, à l’équilibre et dans des conditions d’essai spécifiées, les propriétés de transmission de la vapeur d’eau d’éprouvettes constituées de coquilles isolantes préformées. Il s’applique aux produits isolants thermiques.
Il est destiné aux matériaux homogènes (voir NOTE ci-dessous) et aux produits qui peuvent posséder des revêtements intégrés ou des parements collés faits d’un autre matériau.
NOTE         Un matériau est estimé homogène quant à sa distribution massique si sa masse volumique est à peu près la même partout, c’est-à-dire si les valeurs mesurées de la masse volumique sont proches de sa masse volumique moyenne.

Ta evropski standard določa opremo in postopek za ugotavljanje lastnosti prenosa vodne pare v stacionarnem stanju pod določenimi preskusnimi pogoji za preskusne vzorce predoblikovanih cevnih izolacij. Uporablja se za toplotnoizolacijske proizvode.
Namenjen je za uporabo za homogene materiale (glej OPOMBO) in za proizvode, ki lahko imajo vdelane prevleke ali dodane sloje iz različnih materialov.
OPOMBA:   Material je v smislu porazdelitve mase homogen takrat, ko je njegova gostota v celoti približno enaka, tj. če so izmerjene vrednosti gostote blizu njegovi povprečni gostoti.
Vrednosti stopnje prenosa vodne pare in prepustnosti so specifične za debelino preskušancev (tj. proizvod). Za homogene proizvode je prepustnost vodne pare lastnost materiala.
Če je cevna izolacija izrezana iz ploščatega proizvoda, je mogoče lastnosti prenosa vodne pare pridobiti s preskusi, izvedenimi na ploščatem proizvodu s podobnimi lastnostmi v skladu s standardom EN 12086.

"Test and measurement methods" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 88 “Thermal
insulating materials and products” the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by March 2023, and conflicting national standards shall
be withdrawn at the latest by September 2025.

1 Scope

transmission properties of preformed pipe insulation
1 Scope
This International Standard specifies the equipment and procedure for determining the water vapour
transmission properties in the steady state under specified test conditions for test specimens of
preformed pipe insulation. It is applicable to thermal insulating products.
It is intended to be used for homogeneous materials (see Note below) and for products which may have
integral skins or adhered facings of some different material.
NOTE A material is considered to be homogeneous in terms of mass distribution if its density is approximately
the same throughout, i.e. if the measured density values are close to its mean density.
The water vapour transmission rate and permeance values are specific to the test specimen (i.e. the
product) thickness tested. For homogeneous products, the water vapour permeability is a property of the
material.
If the pipe insulation is cut from a flat product, then the water vapour transmission properties can be
obtained from tests carried out on the flat product with similar properties in accordance with ISO 12572.
