Foreword
This European Telecommunication Standard (ETS) has been produced by the Terminal Equipment (TE)
Technical Committee of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).
ITU-T Recommendation T.571 [1] ("Terminal characteristics for the telematic file transfer within the
Teletex service") indicates the telematic file transfer for facsimile Group A as for further study. Within the
ETSI environment, the use of this ETS also applies to the facsimile Group 4 service, since the telematic
protocol used for the telematic file transfer is identical for Teletex and the facsimile Group 4 service.
Since the telematic file transfer is used in the scope of ITU-T Recommendation T.571 [1], all ETSs
relevant to the telematic services, Teletex and facsimile Group 4, may be considered in conjunction with
this ETS. These include:
ETS 300 015 "Terminal Equipment (TE); Basic and recommended additional requirements for
terminal equipment supporting Teletex application".
ETS 300 017 "Terminal Equipment (TE); Test procedures for Teletex".
ETS 300 081 "Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN); Teletex end-to-end protocol over the
ISDN".
ETS 300 087 "Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN); Facsimile group 4 class 1 equipment on
the ISDN, Functional specification of the equipment".
ETS 300 112 "Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN); Facsimile group 4 class 1 equipment on
the ISDN, End-to-end protocols".
ETS 300 155 "Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN); Facsimile group 4 class 1 equipment on
the ISDN, End-to-end protocol tests (Interconnection capability testing)".
ETS 300 280 "Terminal Equipment (TE); Facsimile group 4 class 1 equipment on the In
