Safety in installations for electroheating and electromagnetic processing - Part 6: Particular requirements for high frequency dielectric and microwave heating and processing equipment (IEC 60519-6:2022)
This part of IEC 60519 is applicable to equipment using high frequency or microwave energy alone or in combination with other kinds of energy for industrial heating and processing of materials. It is also applicable to HF and MW generators made available to users as separate units.
This part is applicable to equipment operating in the frequency range 3 MHz to 300 GHz, with the following limitations.
- This standard applies to only high frequency dielectric heating and processing as defined in 3.1.103. It does not apply to induction heating, which it is possible to carry out in the lower part of the specified frequency band and is covered by IEC 60519-3, with magnetic field safety aspects addressed in IEC TS 62997:2017.
- The ISM centre frequencies for dielectric heating and processing of industrial interest are narrow bands about 6,78 MHz, 13,56 MHz, 27,12 MHz and 40,68 MHz. Different field emission measurement procedures and limiting values are applicable, depending on the processing frequency in the high frequency range 3 to 300 MHz. Specifications are in Annex BB.
- Since the wavelength of the high end of the microwave band at 300 GHz is very short and particular leakage measurement instrumentation is needed for the low end of the band, the microwave emission specification in Annex CC applies only for the ISM frequencies between 800 MHz and 6 GHz. The centre frequencies of these are 2,45 GHz and 5,8 GHz universally, and between 896 MHz and 918 MHz in some regions. For other microwave frequencies, IEC 62311:2019 applies.
- The foundations for compliance with emission values are the basic restrictions, referred to in the bibliography. However, maximum HF processing frequency electric and magnetic field values are taken from the IEEE/ANSI C95.1-2019 standard, as indicated in Annex BB.
- This standard is not applicable to:
- appliances for household and similar use (covered by e.g. IEC 60335-2-25:2020)
- commercial use (covered by IEC 60335-2-90:2015+AMD1:2019 and IEC 60335-2-110:2013+AMD1:2019)
- laboratory use (covered by IEC 61010-2-010:2019)
- medical high frequency equipment and accessories (covered by IEC 60601-2-2:2017)
NOTE 101 Since high frequency and microwave tunnel ovens and also some other types of microwave and high frequency equipment may be intended either for commercial, laboratory or industrial use, the following criteria are suitable for determination of the classification as industrial equipment:
- commercial equipment is typically designed and planned for series production of many identical units, whereas industrial equipment is typically produced in small series or even as single units. The processed goods are consumed or ready for final use at the end of the heating process.
- laboratory heating equipment is for preparing material in a laboratory environment, and the processed material is immediately available for investigations or further processing. Regular production of large quantities of material is not foreseen.
- with industrial equipment, the processed goods are not immediately accessible to the end user, and the goods may additionally not be in a final state from the perspective of the end user.

La CEI 60519-6:2011 est applicable aux installations qui utilisent l'énergie à hyperfréquences, seule ou en combinaison avec d'autres formes d'énergie pour le chauffage industriel des matériaux. La présente partie est applicable aux installations électrothermiques industrielles fonctionnant dans la plage de fréquences comprises entre 300 MHz et 300 GHz. Cette troisième édition annule et remplace la deuxième édition parue en 2002, dont elle constitue une révision technique. Les modifications techniques significatives par rapport à l'édition précédente sont les suivantes: - la troisième édition de la CEI 60519-1:2003 a été prise en compte (la structure des articles a été adaptée à celle-ci dans la mesure du possible); - certaines définitions ont été modifiées ou alignées avec la CEI 60050-841:2004; - des articles concernant un fonctionnement anormal, les ouvertures d'accès, l'enceinte hyperfréquences et les barrages ont été ajoutés; - les mesures de la fuite d'hyperfréquences se trouvent dans une Annexe normative A; - une Annexe informative B concernant les justifications des limites d'exposition aux hyperfréquences et des fuites d'hyperfréquences a été ajoutée; - une bibliographie a été ajoutée.

Ta del standarda IEC 60519 se uporablja za opremo, ki uporablja visokofrekvenčno ali mikrovalovno energijo samostojno ali v kombinaciji z drugimi vrstami energije za industrijsko ogrevanje in obdelavo materialov. Uporablja se tudi za visokofrekvenčne (HF) in mikrovalovne (MW) generatorje, ki so uporabnikom na voljo kot ločene enote.

– Ker je valovna dolžina zgornjega konca mikrovalovnega pasu pri 300 GHz zelo kratka in je za merjenje uhajanja v spodnjem koncu pasu potrebna posebna merilna oprema, se specifikacija mikrovalovnega sevanja v dodatku CC uporablja samo za frekvence ISM med 800 MHz in 6 GHz. Srednje frekvence v okviru teh znašajo univerzalno 2,45 GHz in 5,8 GHz ter med 896 MHz in 918 MHz v nekaterih regijah. Za druge mikrovalovne frekvence se uporablja standard IEC 62311:2019.
– Osnova za skladnost z emisijskimi vrednostmi so osnovne omejitve, navedene v bibliografiji. Največje vrednosti električnega in magnetnega polja pri visokofrekvenčni obdelavi so vzete iz standarda IEEE/ANSI C95.1-2019, kot je navedeno v dodatku BB.
– Ta standard se ne uporablja za:
– aparate za gospodinjsko in podobno uporabo (zajeto v standardu IEC 60335-2-25:2020);
– komercialno uporabo (zajeto v standardih IEC 60335-2-90:2015+AMD1:2019 in IEC 60335-2-110:2013+AMD1:2019);
– laboratorijsko uporabo (zajeto v standardu IEC 61010-2-010:2019);
– visokofrekvenčno medicinsko opremo in pripomočke (zajeto v standardu IEC 60601-2-2:2017);
OPOMBA 101: Visokofrekvenčne in mikrovalovne tunelne pečice ter nekatere druge vrste mikrovalovne in visokofrekvenčne opreme so lahko namenjene za komercialno, laboratorijsko ali industrijsko uporabo, zato so naslednja merila primerna za klasifikacijo kot industrijska oprema:
– komercialna oprema je običajno zasnovana in načrtovana za serijsko proizvodnjo več enakih enot, industrijska oprema pa se običajno proizvaja v majhnih serijah ali celo kot posamezne enote. Obdelano blago se porabi ali je pripravljeno za končno uporabo na koncu procesa segrevanja.
– laboratorijska oprema za segrevanje je namenjena pripravi materiala v laboratorijskem okolju, obdelan material pa je takoj na voljo za preiskave ali nadaljnjo obdelavo. Redna proizvodnja večjih količin materiala ni predvidena.
– pri uporabi industrijske opreme obdelano blago ni takoj dostopno končnemu uporabniku, poleg tega blago z vidika končnega uporabnika morda ni v končnem stanju.

parallel vote and approved by CENELEC as EN IEC 60519-6:2024.
The following dates are fixed:
• latest date by which the document has to be implemented at national (dop) 2025-01-03
level by publication of an identical national standard or by endorsement
• latest date by which the national standards conflicting with the (dow) 2027-04-03
document have to be withdrawn
This document supersedes EN 60519-6:2011 and all of its amendments and corrigenda (if any).
