Overview
EN 60064:1995/A11:2007 is an amendment (A11) to the European Standard EN 60064:1995 published by CENELEC. It sets out the performance requirements for tungsten filament (incandescent) lamps intended for domestic and similar general lighting purposes. The amendment was approved on 2007-11-01 and is published in the three official CENELEC languages (English, French, German). Implementing dates were specified for national adoption and withdrawal of conflicting standards.
This amendment clarifies and updates the original standard's scope with a focus on consistent lamp performance, interchangeability for domestic lighting applications, and regulatory conformity across CENELEC member countries.
Key Topics
- Scope and applicability: Performance requirements for tungsten filament lamps used in domestic and similar general lighting contexts.
- Amendment status: A11 modifies EN 60064:1995 and was approved under the CENELEC Unique Acceptance Procedure on 2007-11-01.
- Datasheet revisions: The amendment explicitly deletes a set of lamp data sheets for normal luminous flux lamps above 15 W (including specified 25 W to 200 W types with Bayonet and Edison bases), reflecting adjustments to standardized product documentation.
- Language and compliance: The amendment exists in English, French and German; national electrotechnical committees are required to implement the amendment without alteration according to CENELEC internal regulations.
- Administrative dates: The amendment set deadlines for national implementation (dop) and for withdrawal of conflicting national standards (dow).
Applications
This standard and its amendment are directly relevant to:
- Lamp manufacturers ensuring product design and production meet harmonized performance expectations for domestic incandescent lamps.
- Test laboratories and quality assurance teams performing performance verification and compliance testing.
- Regulatory bodies and compliance officers adopting harmonized requirements at national level and overseeing market surveillance.
- Purchasing and procurement teams in utilities, retailers and large facilities specifying compliant lamp products for domestic and similar lighting applications.
Benefits of following EN 60064:1995/A11:2007 include improved product consistency, clearer documentation for lamp types and bases, and alignment with European market conformity requirements.
Related Standards
- EN 60064:1995 (base standard) - the original European standard for tungsten filament lamp performance.
- IEC lamp datasheets and related IEC/EN publications on incandescent lamp testing and performance (referenced by CENELEC members).
