The article discusses the safety requirements outlined in the document SIST EN 17059:2018 for plating and anodizing lines. The document highlights the hazards, hazardous situations, and events associated with these lines when used according to the manufacturer's instructions and under expected conditions. It also specifies procedures for testing and measuring safety requirements, equipment marking, and minimum operation requirements. The document applies to the design and construction of plating and anodizing lines, including transporter systems, for the surface treatment of industrial products using electrolytes or other process chemistries. It covers various processes, such as electrolytic treatment, wet chemical treatment, metal deposition, and anodizing. The document distinguishes between three types of plating lines: manual, semi-automatic, and fully automatic. It also mentions that certain aspects are not included in the document, such as transporter systems of carrousel lines, water and waste water treatment equipment, machinery for dip coating and electro-deposition of organic liquid coating material, horizontal plating lines, and machinery for surface cleaning and pre-treatment. However, it notes that machinery for surface cleaning and pre-treatment could be part of a plating line.
