This document specifies field survey methods for measuring a) airborne sound insulation between rooms, b) impact sound insulation of floors, c) airborne sound insulation of façades, and d) sound pressure levels in rooms caused by service equipment. The methods described in this document are applicable for measurements in rooms of dwellings or in rooms of comparable size with a maximum of 150 m3. For airborne sound insulation, impact sound insulation and façade sound insulation the method gives values which are (octave band) frequency dependent. They can be converted into a single number characterising the acoustical performances by application of ISO 717-1 and ISO 717-2. For heavy/soft impact sound insulation, the results also are given as A-weighted maximum impact sound pressure level. For service equipment sound the results are given directly in A - or C -weighted sound pressure levels.

This document presents measurement procedures that enable noise emissions of a wind turbine to be characterised. This involves using measurement methods appropriate to noise emission assessment at locations close to the machine, in order to avoid errors due to sound propagation, but far away enough to allow for the finite source size. The procedures described are different in some respects from those that would be adopted for noise assessment in community noise studies. They are intended to facilitate characterisation of wind turbine noise with respect to a range of wind speeds and directions. Standardisation of measurement procedures will also facilitate comparisons between different wind turbines. The procedures present methodologies that will enable the noise emissions of a single wind turbine to be characterised in a consistent and accurate manner. These procedures include the following: - location of acoustic measurement positions; - requirements for the acquisition of acoustic, meteorological, and associated wind turbine operational data; - analysis of the data obtained and the content for the data report; and - definition of specific acoustic emission parameters, and associated descriptors which are used for making environmental assessments. This International Standard is not restricted to wind turbines of a particular size or type. The procedures described in this standard allow for the thorough description of the noise emission from a wind turbine. A method for small wind turbines is described in Annex F.

This document:
-   specifies methods for the measurement of airborne and structure-borne sound produced in waste water and rain water installations under laboratory conditions;
-   defines the expression of the results.
It is applicable to waste water piping systems and parts thereof, but not to the actual sources of the wastewater, e.g. lavatories, toilets and bathtubs or any active units. It applies to pipes with natural ventilation and made of any common material in commonly used diameters (up to 150 mm).
The results obtained can be used for the comparison of products and materials. It may serve in estimating the behaviour of waste water systems in a building under certain conditions. Nevertheless, this standard does not provide a normalized procedure for calculating the acoustical properties of such installations in a building.

This document specifies a method where a vibrating component (a source of structure-borne sound or vibration) is attached to a passive structure (or receiver) and is the cause of vibration in, or structure-borne sound radiation from, the assembly. Examples are pumps installed in ships, servo motors in vehicles or machines and plant in buildings. Almost any vibrating component can be considered as a source in this context. Due to the need to measure vibration at all contact degrees of freedom (DOFs) (connections between the source and receiver), this document can only be applied to assemblies for which such measurement is possible. This document is applicable only to assemblies whose frequency response functions (FRFs) are linear and time invariant. The source can be installed into a real assembly or attached to a specially designed test stand (as described in 5.2). The standard method has been validated for stationary signals such that the results can be presented in the frequency domain. However, the method is not restricted to stationary signals: with appropriate data processing, it is also applicable to time-varying signals such as transients and shocks (provided linearity and time invariance of the FRFs are preserved). This document provides a method for measurement and presentation of blocked forces, together with guidelines for minimizing uncertainty. It provides a method evaluating the quality of the results through an on-board validation procedure but does not comment on the acceptability or otherwise of the results.

This document:
-   specifies methods for the measurement of airborne and structure-borne sound produced in waste water and rain water installations under laboratory conditions;

This standard describes procedures for determining and verifying the declared values of the noise emitted by household and similar appliances. It applies to all categories of household and similar electrical appliances covered by IEC 60704-1 and all parts of IEC 60704-2, which include particular requirements for special categories of appliances. It applies to appliances being produced in quantity, such as in batches, series or lots, which are manufactured to the same technical specification and characterized by the same declared value of noise emission. This part of IEC 60704: - considers the term "declaration" to include all means for providing information on the noise emission values to potential users (consumers) of the appliances; this includes labels, brochures, advertisements, commercial and technical information papers, etc.; - considers the declaration for appliances manufactured by mass production; - specifies a simple statistical method for verifying the declared values by investigating a sample of only three appliances.

This document specifies all the information necessary to carry out efficiently and under standardized conditions the determination, declaration, and verification of the airborne noise emission of liquid pumps or pump units (see 4.1). It specifies the noise measurement methods and the operating and mounting conditions that shall be used for the test. Noise emission characteristics include emission sound pressure levels at specified positions and the sound power level. The determination of these quantities is necessary for - declaring the noise emission values, and - purpose of noise control at source at the design stage. The determination of these quantities is also necessary for comparing the noise emitted by liquid pumps on the market. The use of this document ensures the reproducibility of the determination of the airborne noise-emission characteristics within specified limits determined by the grade of accuracy of the basic airborne noise measurement method used. Noise measurement methods according to this document are engineering methods (grade 2) and survey methods (grade 3). This document does not deal with the characterization of the structure-borne sound and liquid-borne noise generated by liquid pumps.

IEC 60704-2-3:2017 is intended to be used in conjunction with the third edition (2010) of IEC 60704-1, Household and similar electrical appliances - Test code for the determination of airborne acoustical noise - Part 1: General requirements. The relevant text of Part 1 as amended by this standard establishes the test code for dishwashers. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) it doesn’t contain the description of an appropriate test enclosure because the test enclosure has been incorporated in  IEC 60704-1:2010, Annex B; b) the values of standard deviations of sound power levels determined according to this part are given in Clause 1; c) to prevent an appliance being programmed to recognize the test cycles, and reacting specifically to them, in this new edition an artificial soil is used in addition to the unsoiled load and the rinse aid container has to be filled. This artificial soil successive may build up a film on the load. Therefore, detergent also has to be used. An initial test has shown that no foam is to be expected. This publication is to be read in conjunction with IEC 60704-1:2010.
