This European Standard specifies a method for the determination of vitamin D in foodstuffs by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). In the majority of foodstuffs vitamin D is naturally present as cholecalciferol, vitamin D3, and this is the form of the vitamin determined. Vitamin D2, ergocalciferol, is sometimes present in fortified foodstuffs and can also be determined using the European Standard. Some foods will contain both vitamin D3 and D2. This method is not applicable to these samples.

Diese Europäische Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung von Vitamin D in Lebensmitteln mit Hochleistungs-Flüssigchromatographie (HPLC) fest. In der Mehrzahl der Lebensmittel liegt Vitamin D natürlich als Cholecalciferol,Vitamin D3, vor, und dies ist die zu bestimmende Form des Vitamins. Vitamin D2, Ergocalciferol, liegt manchmal in angereicherten Lebensmitteln vor und kann ebenfalls unter Anwendung dieser Europäischen Norm bestimmt werden.

La présente norme européenne spécifie une méthode de dosage de la vitamine D dans les produits alimentaires par chromatographie liquide haute performance (CLHP). Dans la plupart des produits alimentaires, la vitamine D est naturellement présente sous forme de cholécalciférol,ou vitamine D3, forme sous laquelle le dosage de la vitamine est effectué. La vitamine D2, ou ergocalciférol, est parfois présente dans les produits alimentaires enrichis et peut également etre dosée a l'aide de la présente norme européenne.
