Geographic information - Methodology for feature cataloguing

ISO 19110:2016 defines the methodology for cataloguing feature types. This document specifies how feature types can be organized into a feature catalogue and presented to the users of a set of geographic data. This document is applicable to creating catalogues of feature types in previously uncatalogued domains and to revising existing feature catalogues to comply with standard practice. This document applies to the cataloguing of feature types that are represented in digital form. Its principles can be extended to the cataloguing of other forms of geographic data. Feature catalogues are independent of feature concept dictionaries defined in ISO 19126 and can be specified without having to use or create a Feature Concept Dictionary.
ISO 19110:2016 is applicable to the definition of geographic features at the type level. This document is not applicable to the representation of individual instances of each type. This document excludes portrayal schemas as specified in ISO 19117.
ISO 19110:2016 may be used as a basis for defining the universe of discourse being modelled in a particular application, or to standardize general aspects of real world features being modelled in more than one application.

L'ISO 19110:2016 d�finit la m�thodologie de catalogage des types d'entit�s. Il sp�cifie comment les types d'entit�s peuvent �tre organis�s dans un catalogue d'entit�s et pr�sent�s aux utilisateurs d'un jeu de donn�es g�ographiques. Le pr�sent document s'applique � la cr�ation de catalogues de types d'entit�s dans des domaines jusqu'ici non catalogu�s et � la r�vision des catalogues d'entit�s existants pour les rendre conformes aux pratiques normalis�es. Il s'applique au catalogage des types d'entit�s qui sont repr�sent�s sous forme num�rique. Ses principes peuvent �tre �largis au catalogage d'autres formes de donn�es g�ographiques. Les catalogues d'entit�s sont ind�pendants des dictionnaires de concepts d'entit�s d�finis dans l'ISO 19126 et il est possible de les sp�cifier sans utiliser ni cr�er de dictionnaire de concepts d'entit�s.
L'ISO 19110:2016 s'applique � la d�finition d'entit�s g�ographiques au niveau du type d'entit�. Il ne s'applique pas � la repr�sentation des instances individuelles de chaque type. Il exclut les sch�mas de pr�sentation tels que sp�cifi�s dans l'ISO 19117.
L'ISO 19110:2016 peut �tre utilis� comme base pour la d�finition de l'univers du discours mod�lis� dans une application particuli�re ou pour normaliser les aspects g�n�raux d'entit�s du monde r�el mod�lis�s dans plusieurs applications.
