1.1 This European standard specifies the general requirements for the construction, performance and safety of ball valves and closed bottom taper plug valves. It also details the test methods and marking requirements. It applies to valves for domestic and commercial not directly buried installations inside or outside of buildings, using gases of the first, second and third family (specified in EN 437).

Diese europäische Norm legt die allgemeinen Anforderungen an Bau, Funktion und die Sicherheit von Kugelhähnen und Kegelhähnen mit geschlossenem Boden fest. Er schreibt auch die Prüfverfahren und die Anforderungen an die Kennzeichnung vor. Sie gilt für Armaturen in häuslichen und gewerblichen, nicht direkt erdverlegten Anlagen innerhalb oder außerhalb von Gebäuden, in denen Gase der ersten, zweiten und dritten Familie (diese sind in EN 437 festgelegt) verwendet werden.

La présente norme européenne définit les exigences essentielles concernant la construction, le fonctionnement et la sécurité pour les robinets à tournant sphérique et à tournant conique à fond plat. Elle précise aussi les méthodes d'essais et les exigences de marquage. Elle s'applique aux robinets destinés aux installations domestiques et commerciales, qui ne sont pas enterrées directement, qui sont situées à l'intérieur ou à l'extérieur des bâtiments, et qui sont alimentées avec les gaz des première, deuxième et troisième familles (telles que spécifiées dans l'EN 437).

1.1 Ta evropski standard določa splošne zahteve za izdelavo, delovanje in varnost krogelnih pip in zasunov. Podrobno določa tudi preskusne metode in zahteve za označevanje. Velja za pipe in zasune za domače in gospodarske napeljave, ki niso neposredno zakopane, v stavbah ali zunaj njih, ki uporabljajo pline prve, druge ali tretje družine (določeno v EN 437).

This document is applicable to valves with declared maximum inlet pressures up to and including 500 kPa and of nominal connection sizes up to and including DN 250.
Addition:
This document is applicable to:
-   electrically actuated valves;
-   valves actuated by fluids where the control valves for these fluids are actuated electrically, but not to any external electrical devices for switching the control signal or actuating energy;
-   valves where the flow rate is controlled by external electrical signals, either in discrete steps or proportional to the applied signal;
-   valves fitted with closed position indicator switches.
An assessment method for valve designs is given by this document.
The 4th paragraph of EN 13611:2019, Clause 1 is removed.

ISO 21787:2006 specifies requirements for the design, functional characteristics and manufacture of globe valves made of thermoplastics materials intended for isolating and control service, their connection to the pipe system, the body materials and their pressure/temperature rating between -40 degrees Celsius and +120 degrees Celsius, for a lifetime of 25 years, and also specifies their tests.
ISO 21787:2006 is applicable to hand- or power-operated valves to be installed in industrial pipe systems, irrespective of the field of application and the fluids to be conveyed.
It International Standard is concerned with the range of DN 10; DN 15, DN 20, DN 25, DN 40, DN 50, DN 65, DN 80, DN 100, DN 125 and DN 150, and the range of PN 6, PN 10, PN 16 and Class 150.
