Dentistry - Hose connectors for air driven dental handpieces (ISO 9168:2009)

ISO 9168:2009 is applicable for achieving reliable interchangeability between hoses from dental units and dental handpieces.
ISO 9168:2009 specifies four types of hose connector for use between air driven dental handpieces and the flexible hoses of the dental unit which supply the handpieces with water, air and light, and provide for exhaust.

Der Zweck dieser Internationalen Norm ist es, eine zuverlässige Verbindung zwischen den Schläuchen der zahnärztlichen Behandlungseinheit und den zahnärztlichen Handstücken herzustellen. Diese Internationale Norm legt vier Typen von Schlauchverbindungen zwischen luftbetriebenen zahnärztlichen Handstücken und den flexiblen Leitungen der zahnärztlichen Behandlungseinheit fest, die die Handstücke mit Wasser, Luft und Licht versorgen und die für die Rückluft vorgesehen sind.

L'ISO 9168:2009 s'applique à assurer une interchangeabilité fiable entre les raccordements flexibles de l'unit dentaire et les pièces à main.
L'ISO 9168:2009 spécifie quatre types de connexions à utiliser entre les pièces à main dentaires à air comprimé et les raccordements flexibles de l'unit dentaire qui alimentent ces pièces en eau, air et lumière et permettent leur évacuation.

This document (EN ISO 9168:2009) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 106 "Dentistry" in
collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 55 “Dentistry”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by January 2010, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at
the latest by January 2010.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent

This document supersedes EN 29168:1994.
