EN 861:2007/prA1 is a CEN draft amendment for Safety of woodworking machines - Surface planing and thicknessing machines (combined planing and thicknessing machines). Prepared by CEN/TC 142, the amendment updates normative references, refines marking and instruction handbook requirements, strengthens ergonomics/handling guidance, and adds an informative Annex (ZB) that maps the standard to the Essential Requirements of the EU Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC). This document (EN 861:2007/prA1:2009) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 142
“Woodworking machines - Safety”, the secretariat of which is held by UNI.
This document is currently submitted to the Unique Acceptance Procedure.
This document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the
European Free Trade Association, and supports essential requirements of the Machinery Directive.
For relationship with EU Directive, see informative Annexes ZA and ZB, which are integral parts of this
document.
1 Modification to the Foreword
Replace the fifth paragraph with the following:

2 Modification to Clause 2, Normative references
Delete the reference to EN 294:1992 and add "EN ISO 13857:2008, Safety of machinery — Safety distances
to prevent hazard zones being reached by upper and lower limbs (ISO 13857:2008)" and replace
"EN 294:1992" with "EN ISO 13857:2008" throughout the document.
