Bitumen and bituminous binders - Determination of needle penetration
This European Standard specifies a method for determining the consistency of bitumen and bituminous binders. Normal procedure is described for penetrations up to 330 mm 0,1 mm, but for penetrations above this value, up to 500 mm 0,1 mm, different operating parameters are necessary.

La présente Norme européenne définit une méthode pour la détermination de la consistance des bitumes et des liants bitumineux. Le mode opératoire courant s'applique pour les pénétrations inférieures ou égales à 330 ´ 0,1 mm. Pour les pénétrations supérieures à cette valeur, des conditions opératoires différentes sont prévues.

EN 1426:2007 (E) 3 Foreword This document (EN 1426:2007) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 336 “Bituminous binders”, the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by September 2007, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by September 2007. This document supersedes EN 1426:1999.
