Fasteners - Hot dip galvanized coatings (ISO 10684:2004)

ISO 10684:2004 specifies material, process, dimensional and some performance requirements for hot dip spun galvanized coatings applied to coarse threaded steel fasteners from M8 up to and including M64 and for property classes up to and including 10.9 for bolts, screws and studs and 12 for nuts. It is not recommended to hot dip galvanize threaded fasteners in diameters smaller than M8 and/or with pitches below 1,25 mm.
ISO 10684:2004 primarily concerns the spun hot dip galvanizing of threaded steel fasteners, but it may also be applied to other threaded steel parts. The specifications given in this document may also be applied to non-threaded steel parts such as washers.

Verbindungselemente - Feuerverzinkung (ISO 10684:2004)

Diese Internationale Norm legt Werkstoff, Verfahren, Maßanforderungen und einige Leistungsanforderungen
für die Feuerverzinkung von Verbindungselementen aus Stahl mit Regelgewinde von M8 bis M64 und für die
Festigkeitsklassen bis einschließlich 10.9 für Schrauben und 12 für Muttern fest. Feuerverzinkung wird für
Verbindungselemente mit Gewinden kleiner als M8 und/oder mit Gewindesteigung unterhalb 1,25 mm nicht
empfohlen.
ANMERKUNG Es wird darauf hingewiesen, dass die Prüfkräfte und Prüfspannungen von Muttern mit Gewindeübermaß
der Gewindegrößen M8 und M10 sowie die Bruchkräfte und Prüfkräfte von Schrauben mit Gewindeuntermaß der Gewindegrößen
M8 und M10 geringer sind als die in ISO 898-2 bzw. ISO 898-1 vorgegebenen Werte. Sie werden im normativen
Anhang A festgelegt.
Die Norm behandelt in erster Linie Feuerverzinken mit Schleudern von Verbindungselementen aus Stahl mit
Gewinde, sie kann aber auch auf andere Gewindeteile aus Stahl angewendet werden.
Die in dieser Internationalen Norm enthaltenen Festlegungen können auch auf Teile aus Stahl ohne Gewinde,
wie z. B. Scheiben, angewendet werden.

Éléments de fixation - Revêtements de galvanisation à chaud (ISO 10684:2004)

L'ISO 10684:2004 spécifie les matériaux, les étapes du procédé de revêtement, les dimensions et certaines caractéristiques fonctionnelles des revêtements de galvanisation à chaud au trempé (avec essorage). Elle s'applique aux éléments de fixation à filetage à pas gros de M8 à M64 inclus, de classes de qualité jusqu'à 10.9 incluse pour les vis et goujons et de classes de qualité jusqu'à 12 incluse pour les écrous. La galvanisation à chaud n'est pas recommandée pour les éléments de fixation filetés de filetage inférieur à M8 et/ou de pas inférieur à 1,25 mm.
L'ISO 10684:2004 concerne principalement les éléments de fixation filetés galvanisés à chaud au trempé (avec essorage), mais peut également s'appliquer à d'autres pièces filetées en acier. Les spécifications indiquées dans ce document peuvent également s'appliquer à des pièces en acier non filetées telles que les rondelles.

Foreword

1 Scope
This International Standard specifies material, process, dimensional and some performance requirements for
hot dip spun galvanized coatings applied to coarse threaded steel fasteners from M8 up to and including M64
and for property classes up to and including 10.9 for bolts, screws and studs and 12 for nuts. It is not
recommended to hot dip galvanize threaded fasteners in diameters smaller than M8 and/or with pitches below
1,25 mm.
NOTE Attention is drawn to the fact that the proof loads and stresses under proof load of oversize tapped nuts with
threads M8 and M10 and the ultimate tensile loads and proof loads of undersize threaded bolts and screws with threads
M8 and M10 are reduced as compared to the values specified in ISO 898-2 and ISO 898-1 respectively and are specified
in Annex A.
It primarily concerns the spun hot dip galvanizing of threaded steel fasteners, but it may also be applied to
other threaded steel parts.
The specifications given in this International Standard may also be applied to non-threaded steel parts such
as washers.
