Endurance
Clause 18 says that the Part 1 clause on endurance is not applicable. In practice, endurance testing in this part is not taken from that Part 1 clause, so test planning must follow the clause set in this standard instead of assuming a general endurance test from Part 1.
Protective enclosures and guards
Clause 20.2 now requires protective enclosures, guards and similar parts to be either non-detachable or interlocked, and to have adequate mechanical strength. This matters because service access and safety guarding must prevent easy removal and must withstand normal handling.
Automatic door movement
New Clause 20.103 says automatic opening and closing of the door shall not create a hazard. For motorized doors, compliance is checked at the closing edge when the door is 50 mm from the fixed closing edge, using limits for surface pressure, force and kinetic energy. The note says a hold-to-run device is not considered automatic operation. In practice, this is the part most likely to affect design verification on commercial oven doors.

FOREWORD
1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote international
co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To this end and
in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications, Technical Reports,
Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as "IEC Publication(s)"). Their
preparation is entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested in the subject dealt with
may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-governmental organizations liaising
with the IEC also participate in this preparation. IEC collaborates closely with the International Organization for
