Type 1 tapes are woven on conventional looms with glass fibres, type 2 tapes are woven on shuttle-less looms with glass fibres, type 3 tapes are woven on shuttle-less looms with warp glass fibres and weft polyester fibres.

EN 61067-3-1:1995 (IEC 61067-3-1:1995) specifies material requirements for glass and glass–polyester fibre woven tapes used for electrical insulation. The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) is a worldwide organization for standardization
