IEC 60384-22:2019 is available as IEC 60384-22:2019 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.IEC 60384-22:2019 is applicable to fixed unencapsulated surface mount multilayer capacitors of ceramic dielectric, Class 2, for use in electronic equipment. These capacitors have metallized connecting pads or soldering strips and are intended to be mounted on printed boards, or directly onto substrates for hybrid circuits. Capacitors for electromagnetic interference suppression are not included, but are covered by IEC 60384-14. The object of this document is to prescribe preferred ratings and characteristics and to select from IEC 60384-1 the appropriate quality assessment procedures, tests and measuring methods and to give general performance requirements for this type of capacitor. Test severities and requirements prescribed in detail specifications referring to this sectional specification are of equal or higher performance levels, lower performance levels are not permitted. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: - revision of the structure in accordance with ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2:2016 (seventh edition) to the extent practicable, and for harmonizing with IEC 60384-21; - deletion of the description on the permissible reactive power in 6.2.2 because it is not appropriate for the purposes of this document; - the dimensions of 0201M in Annex A have been added.

Ces condensateurs possèdent des pastilles de connexion métallisées ou des bandes de brasure et sont destinés à être montés sur des cartes imprimées ou directement sur des substrats de circuits hybrides. Ta del standarda IEC 60384 se uporablja za fiksne nezaprte večplastne kondenzatorje za površinsko namestitev s keramičnim dielektrikom razreda 2 za uporabo v elektronski opremi. Ti kondenzatorji imajo metalizirane priključne blazinice ali varilne trakove ter so namenjeni namestitvi na tiskana vezja ali neposredno na podlage za hibridne tokokroge.
Kondenzatorji za preprečevanje elektromagnetnih motenj niso vključeni, vendar so zajeti v standardu IEC 60384-14. Cilj tega dokumenta je predpisati prednostne vrednosti in lastnosti, izbrati primerne postopke za ovrednotenje kakovosti, preskuse in merilne metode iz standarda IEC 60384-1 ter podati splošne zahteve glede zmogljivosti za ta tip kondenzatorja. Preskusne stopnje in zahteve, predpisane v podrobnih specifikacijah, ki se navezujejo na to področno specifikacijo, so enake ali višje ravni učinkovitosti; nižje ravni niso dovoljene.

and approved by CENELEC as EN IEC 60384-22:2019.

IEC 60384-14:2023 applies to capacitors and resistor-capacitor combinations intended to be connected to AC mains or other supply with a nominal voltage not exceeding 1 000 V AC (RMS), and with a nominal frequency not exceeding 100 Hz. This document includes also additional specific conditions and requirements for the connection to DC supplies with a rated voltage not exceeding 1 500 V DC. The principal object of this part of IEC 60384 is to prescribe preferred ratings and characteristics and to select, from IEC 60384-1, the appropriate quality assessment procedures, tests and measuring methods and to give general performance requirements for this type of capacitor. Test severities and requirements prescribed in detail specifications referring to this sectional specification are of equal or higher performance level; lower performance levels are not permitted. This document also provides a schedule of safety tests to be used by national testing stations in countries where approval by such stations is required. The overvoltage categories in combination with the AC mains voltages for the capacitors classified in this document are to be taken from IEC 60664-1. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
in damp heat steady state test, all capacitor types are tested both with and without rated voltage; the number of test pieces has been increased;
tangent of loss angle is added In Group 0 tests, in safety tests only;
qualification approval based on safety and performance tests has been removed from the main text to a normative annex;
the range of rated voltages is given instead of exact rated voltage values;
normative annex for description of capacitor styles and of creepage/clearance distance measurement has been added;
the importance of mechanical failures (cracks) in component encapsulation as a safety feature is highlighted in handling instructions and requirements after all relevant tests.
