AMENDMENT 1
FOREWORD
1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote international
co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To this end and
in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications, Technical Reports,
Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as “IEC Publication(s)”). Their
preparation is entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested in the subject dealt with
may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-governmental organizations liaising
with the IEC also participate in this preparation. IEC collaborates closely with the International Organization for
Standardization (ISO) in accordance with conditions determined by agreement between the two organizations.
2) The formal decisions or agreements of IEC on technical matters express, as nearly as possible, an international
consensus of opinion on the relevant subjects since each technical committee has representation from all
interested IEC National Committees.
3) IEC Publications have the form of recommendations for international use and are accepted by IEC National
Committees in that sense. While all reasonable efforts are made to ensure that the technical content of IEC

Insert, after list item 2) of the existing third paragraph and before the existing fourth paragraph,

The standard contains the IEC 62474 data exchange format and IEC 62474 lists, including the
declarable substance list (DSL), material class list (MCL) and exemption list. IEC 62474 allows
other lists to be used with the IEC 62474 data exchange format.

Replace, in the third sentence of the last paragraph, "have the flexibility to determine" with "can

4.1.1 Overview
Replace, in the fourth paragraph, after Figure 4, "IEC 62474 DSL" with "DSL".
4.1.2 Conformity to the IEC 62474 standard
Insert, between the existing first and second paragraphs, the following new sentence, and
bulleted items:
Acceptable statements of IEC 62474 conformance are also:
• conformance to the "IEC 62474 data exchange format";
• conformance to the "IEC 62474 DSL".
Replace, in the second sentence of the existing second paragraph, "and meets the requirements
specified in the standard, it is in conformity with the standard" with "and meets the requirements
specified in this document, it is in conformity with this document.".
Add, at the end of the existing second paragraph, the following new paragraph:
However, if the material declaration meets the requirements of the IEC 62474 data exchange
format, but utilizes an alternate DSL, the material declaration can be claimed to conform to the
"IEC 62474 data exchange format".
4.4.2 DSs and DSGs with mandatory reporting requirements
Replace all instances of "IEC 62474 DSL" with "DSL".
Replace, in NOTE 2 of list item e), third bulleted item, "lists" with "can list".
Replace, in the last sentence of NOTE 3 of list item e), third bulleted item, "are given" with "can

4.4.3 DSs and DSGs with optional reporting requirements
Replace, in the first sentence, "IEC 62474 DSL" with "DSL".

Replace, in list item a), third dashed list item, "IEC 62474 DSL" with "DSL".
4.5.4 DSs and DSG substance(s) with mandatory reporting requirements
