BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 566, Common Names for Pesticides-Sixth List, was drawn
up by Technical Committee ISO/TC 81, Common Names for Pesticides, the Secretariat of which
is held by the British Standards Institution (BSI).
Work on this question by the Technical Committee began in 1961 and led, in 1962, to the
adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.

COMMON NAMES FOR PESTICIDES
SIXTH LIST*
FOREWORD
This IS0 Recommendation gives the sixth list of common names approved by Technical
Committee ISO/TC 81, Common Names foi Pesticides, for certain pesticides of international
importance. The chemical name in conformity with the rules of the International Union of Pure
and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) is given in each case. Chemical formulae and notes concerning
some of the names are also given. The application of each compound is given in a separate
column according to the following classes :
A Insecticides or acaricides
B Fungicides
C Herbicides
D Rodenticides
It is proposed in due c urse to issue further IS0 Recommendations for approved common
names. In some cases, widely used names are not available for international use at the present
time, because they are protected by trade marks in certain countries.

HISTORIQUE
La Recommandation ISO/R 566, Noms communs pour les pesticides - Sixième liste, a
été élaborée par le Comité Technique ISO/TC 81, Noms communs pour les pesticides, dont le
Secrétariat est assuré par la British Standards Institution (BSI).
Les travaux relatifs à cette question furent entrepris par le Comité Technique en 1961
et aboutirent en 1962 à l’adoption d’un Projet de Recommandation ISO.
En juin 1963, ce Projet de Recommandation IS0 (NO 579) fut soumis à l’enquête de tous
les Comités Membres de 1’ISO. I1 fut approuvé, sous réserve de quelques modifications d’ordre
rédactionnel, par les Comités Membres suivants :

SIXIÈME LISTE*
AVANT- P R O P O S
La présente Recommandation IS0 donne la sixième liste de noms communs approuvés
par le Comité Technique ISO/TC 8 1, Noms communs pour les pesticides, pour certains pesticides
d’importance internationale. Le nom chimique conforme aux règles de l’Union internationale de
chimie pure et appliquée (UICPA) est donné dans chaque cas, ainsi que les formules chimiques
et des notes relatives à certains noms. L’application de chaque composé est indiquée dans une
colonne séparée, selon les classes suivantes :
A Insecticides ou acaricides
B Fongicides
C Herbicides
D Rodenticides
Il est prévu de publier, en temps opportun, d’autres Recommandations IS0 pour les
noms communs approuvés. Dans certains cas, des noms largement utilisés ne sont pas pour
l’instant utilisables sur le plan international, parce qu’ils sont protégés par des marques de
fabrique dans certains pays.
